Of all our great ecclesiastical edifices there is none, with the exception of Westminster Abbey, that is more linked with the events Of English history than the cathedral of Canterbury. It is not merely that it is one of our chief works of art, and Of which we may be justly proud, but it has been the scene of important episodes, and it stands as a memorial of one of the most momentous of them in our annals. For many generations it was regarded as hallowed, and when we consider how opinions change, it might be possible for it to be regarded SO again.
This is a book for someone with an architectural knowledge base. However, it reads like a lecture with the little drifts off subject, highly opinionated views of the many cathedrals in Wales and England. My copy was actually printed in England in 1925, and is slightly worn, but I will keep it for when I make the pilgrimage to Britain and visit these grand buildings.
