This comprehensive, complete guide to all aspects of horsemanship is a must-have for any horse owner, rider & those in the equine industry.

If I could recommend only one book to someone who was buying a horse, learning to ride or working within the equine industry (in any sphere) then THIS would be it. Covering a wide-range of topics from horse management, riding, health and tips on how to pass ANY equine examination this indispensable guide is remarkable. As a prior member of ‘the Pony Club’ I was advised to obtain a copy of this book as a child, and since having found it so useful and informative I have not looked back! Ideal for not only Pony/ Riding clubbers but also for those taking a ‘British Horse Society’ stage examination, this worldwide bestseller has helped countless riders of enjoyment and success in all areas of equitation. This 13th edition of the manual contains fantastic detailed illustrations that help to explain every part of the book from horse care to horsemanship, with NO OTHER single volume containing so much information on such a wide range of equestrian topics.

This unique guide encompasses all the relevant subjects and standards in a single volume that adhere to the Pony Club’s principles and practices, as it is regularly amended and updated by training committee members. All of whom have learnt to ride within the Pony Club and who now wish to give back their knowledge and expertise for the benefit of future generations, have done so spectacularly in this classic compendium that continues to outsell every other non-fictional book on horses and ponies. Including information on horse health, the rider, the horse, saddlery and basic training this is an ideal book for those first-time horse buyers as well as something obligatory for stable hands (grooms), equine vets, yard owners and students enrolled on courses at equestrian colleges and universities.

Personally, as someone who has been at an equine college as a student, who has taken many BHS examinations, a Pony Club and also a Riding Club member, who has ‘shared’ horses ( ½ owned) and who has worked within the equine industry for many years – this is the single book that I couldn’t be without. A must-have for all fellow equestrians!
