This is an excellent devotional guide that concentrates prayer on the writings of St Francis of Assisi, St Thomas Aquinas, St Catherine of Siena, st John Henry Newman, Michaelangelo and G. K.Chesterton. I highly recommend especially during Advent.

This book could be read alone but is written to complement Bishop Baron’s DVD set Pivotal players set 1. It offers a few short pieces on each saint followed by questions to meditate on.

I feel like the drive to have the alliteration in the title overtook the need for a more accurate title. "Reflections from..." would probably be more accurate. Very few prayers are actually contained in this work (though at least some of the Pivotal Players in it have many great prayers).

That being said, this book was not without it's merits. There were some nuggets here and there that got underlined. I wouldn't recommend this book to someone who was pretty familiar with most of these icons, because it seems to cover pretty well-known territory in their lives and writings. But for someone new to the faith or these 6 in particular, it's not a bad way to get your feet wet.
