An anthology of short mysteries. A good number of different types of mysteries are covered off in this book with a few stretching the concept of family. You can get a sense of the strengths of some of the writers when you can compare their approaches. There are a fair number of character driven pieces. The mysteries by their economy can sometimes be a bit obvious. There are few writers who become masters of this type of story because of that restriction.

Still, this is a good introduction to some of these authors if someone is trying to get a sense of their writing.

A mixed bag of stories, some excellent (The Letter by Dorothy Salisbury Davis) and others so-so. Most of the writers included are well-known, established authors of the past fifty years or so. Worth reading for genre fans or those interested in older mystery writers, some of whom are not around any more.

I really enjoyed this book, the stories were very interesting and kept me hooked. The only thing I wish was different about this book was I wish they gave more time to some of the stories so that way they would have been a little bit more fleshed out.

Interesting collection of stories about families that did not get along, including one about cats.

Surprising, but the stories were not that good...in fact, I completely skipped the last three or four because they did not appeal to me at all.

Usually, when I read a collection like this, I will look into reading more by the different authors, but not this time!
