Fandom: Harry Potter Relationships: Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter, Hermione Granger/Ron Weasley -------------------------------------------------- When they first meet after the end of the war, Draco doesn't want anything to do with Harry. But as time goes by, Draco's growing love may be the only thing that can save them both, because after a serious accident in the Forbidden Forest, Draco's personality begins to undergo subtle changes. At first, Harry credits this to a new enthusiasm for life. But as the days pass and Draco's behavior becomes more and more mysterious, Harry begins to suspect that something bigger--and darker--is at work.
this fic is life-changing tbh. it's just quality literature. i don't think any words can do it justice. it's such an experience. and so atmospheric. and i love how it was like one chapter in the present and then the next in the past and so on. and the writing style is flawless. and the characterisation. oh god. i also cried a good three times. i adored it.
Good lord, this fic had me stressed beyond words. Literally every single moment while reading this, I had severe anxiety because of what was happening and I wanted to stop reading it but i literally couldn’t put it down. I don’t even read horror and I didn’t even know this really WAS one until the author mentioned the word at like 61% but DAMN. I fought through jet lag and an injured back to read this fic bc it had me hooked. between all the creepiness was a real love story between a prickly, anxious Draco and a Harry who doesn’t give up fighting. Ever. A Harry who stays and loves so hard it made me CRY. highly recommend this for anybody who likes a slightly creepy read with a dual timeline, established relationship and a little bit of a mystery. beware of goosebumps.
“I don’t know how to be the one who leaves. It’s always other people leaving me. I don’t get to keep anyone… If this ends with one of us leaving, it’s going to have to be you… But it would have been really something to get to keep someone.” LIKE HELLOOOOOOO? Very James Potter of him!!!
This was good, I really liked the switching timeline and POV's and I didn't find it hard to keep up with them considering. The creature itself was really creepy and the scene with Draco's mother actually had me shook. I really just wish the story of the creature was more fleshed out and that there had been more of a mystery around it in the beginning and end. We get told that it is crazy powerful and its like a massive urban legend but they kill it with one spell and the monster it made was just locked up easily? The writing could have used a lot more work, especially with showing the differences in personality between pre-possessed and Draco and possessed Draco but it wasn't so bad that it took away from the story. The only thing I really didn't like was that the smut scenes were so long and over-detailed that I skipped most of them. It isn't one I would re-read but it was ok.
Unique, capturing style. Interesting story. Nonlinear narrative adds appeal. From time to time quite corny and boring with loops of lines but nevertheless it was a good read.
This was pretty psychologically horrifying, while also being ultra satisfying Drarry goodness. The Creature was creepy as hell, and my angst at the whole body snatching of it all was real.
The Creature chapters are very good. The flashbacks take away from the story and are just BDSM scenes that take away from what would have been a good story.
