This book is worth a read, if you are interested in its intended purpose. Learning from the recent past - "lessons learned" in military parlance, is something the US military is surprisingly horrible at. We almost always "re-invent the wheel." Allard's book is a quick read, and you will pick up some insight based on operational experience into rules of engagement, working with coalition partners, command and control, logistics, strategic agility, and the consequences of poorly defined political and military objectives.
