Erje Ayden (Erce Aydıner) 1937’de İstanbul’da doğdu. Gizemli bir gençlik sürecinden sonra bir daha dönmemek üzere 1957’de New York’a gitti. Ayakta durabilmek için mezarcılık, garsonluk, boyacılık, fedailik, marangozluk ve galeri yöneticiliği yaptı.

I came across this book while shopping for second hand novels. The title was cryptic and the price was quite cheap, so I added it to the lot. I thought, what the hell, let's read some underground fiction.

The introduction was honest. This book is in fact brutally honest. The writer's unusual use of the grammar and the graphic description of sex and violence caused me to enjoy it immensely. Sort of like a Bukowski, but with a greater timeline and more theatrical ending.

Erje Ayden, çok tanımadığımız bir Türk yazarımız. Kendi dili Türkçe olsa da Amerikan İngilizcesi ile yazmış eserlerini. İlk olarak bu kitabını okudum diğerleri ile devam edeceğim. Kitap için tam olarak bir yeraltı edebiyatı diyebiliriz, çokça argo, seks ve şiddet unsuru barındırıyor fakat dilin sadeliği sayesinde bu unsurlar rahatsız edici olmaktan çıkmış. Genel olarak güzel bir kitaptı, tavsiye ediyorum.

Bir zaman alıp, okuyamadıklarımdandı. Muhtemelen “ABD’de 2,5 milyon satan Türk romancının kitabı” diye merak edip almışımdır. 136 sayfa kahramanın cinsellik kaynaklı olarak yaşadığı ve etrafındaki kadınlara yaşattığı travmaları okuyorsun. Öyle derinlemesine tahlil de yok bence. Son 2-3 tanesi dışında her bölümde birileriyle yatıyor, kalkıyor, ya sepetliyor veya yoluna devam ediyor. İngilizce okunsa belki edebi bir lezzeti vardır, ancak Türkçe pek bir numarası yok.

Güzel bölümleri vardı. Sorunlu güzel insanlarla tanıştım.
