This retelling of The Good Samaritan teaches the importance of being a good friend. Mom and Pop Roly Poly and their little Rolies, Junior and Sissy, find themselves face-to-face with some biker flies. It looks like big trouble for Pop! Will anyone stop to help him? Someone will---the last person anyone expects.
Bill Myers was born into a Christian home, and although as a child he became bored with Christianity, he decided at the University of Washington quote, to "make God my boss." Ironically, at the University his worst subject was writing. He claims to have prayed, and said that he would be able to do anything for God, except write. Even so, he has become a prominent Christian writer, and has a large amount of successful books and films to his credit.
Myers has solid sense of story, rhythmic rhymes. I did like snob butterflies and marching ants purposeful at a glance. Next time I will look for a real book. Paper would be better than ebook, with larger pictures, words.
Also no bugs. Though drawn fluidly as cute, friendly, I didn't know bugs could be so icky. Hard to like.
Grey misty waves hint at odor. Innkeepers do refuse Mr Stinky, but flat screen has no yuck that swamps, overwhelms.
I loved this book. This is the funniest and most touching story of the parable of the good samaritan I have ever read or heard. Great illustrations and just a great book for kids of all ages.
