William Henry Green was an American Presbyterian minister, theologian, seminary professor and Hebrew language scholar. After his ordination in 1848, he served as pastor of the Central Presbyterian church of Philadelphia. In August 1851 he was appointed professor of Biblical and Oriental Literature at Princeton Theological Seminary. By 1868 he was senior professor and acting head of the Theological Seminary. He served as the moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly in 1891. Professor Green was still an active scholar, and held the chair in Oriental and Old Testament Literature at Princeton until his death in 1900.
