Guy has green hair at the start but fortunately becomes a holy god fearing young man, and not just any younbg man, but a young man with a trade (plumbing). Apparently he died his hair green as a dare, although it sounds like the only people he's ever spoken to, prior to the events of this book, are those at the job centre. I'm assuming they told him to do so for a laugh. The protagonist's other friend is black which is a fact often repeated and emphasised. An evil guy called "Joe" appears and spikes the protagonist's drink with vodka which makes her sick without other effect. Joe owns a boat. (was clearing out books that had long ago been stored away in the attic - this wasn't mine but thought it looked funny enough to read its 94 pages. It sort of was? It's absolutely 100% the personification of the stereotypical Christian children's book with its base premise, for better(?) or for worse)
