I felt that this book was written in an academic way. I had a hard time pushing myself reading it. It is just not my favorite kind of writing although the topics were on spot!

Not a bad read. I liked the post-it note technique and snippets throughout the text. While sections on anger, self-efficacy, distress and gratitude were worth the read, as a doctoral student, I honed in most on the scientific studies and plan to read two additional books referenced in this one. The cohort study of epidemiology concluded with some negative outcomes that put feeling good into perspective. CHD (coronary heart disease) with angina, non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI), or death from CHD related to satisfaction or rather perceived personal satisfaction in the person's job, relationship, their sex life and self-concept.
Kahneman's "Thinking fast and slow" is one of the two books worth looking into. Flourish, authored by Martin Seligman, is the other. (Positive Psychology- look deeper into PERMA).
The book encourages an attitude of gratitude, one to challenge their own thinking, generating sufficient evidence before concluding on thoughts which may be detrimental to self-concept, engaging in the zone which yields positive accomplishments and striving for optimism.
The portion I struggled with related to yoga. As one who practices yoga often, I was unaware of the concept of "karma yoga", and that yoga could be construed as a self-less service. Practicing conscious mindfulness is often a component of yoga, but I suppose I practice more to reduce injury from athletic activity than a spiritual exercise for psychological benefit.

This book helps the reader understand some important and basic concepts in personal psychology. It is directed at you - you get out of it what you put in to it. Free your mind, and Feel Good while doing it.
