(Read in June, 2021.) Indeed, I can't deny that there is some helpful information and useful tips in this book to guide you through the entire wedding planning process, but OMG this book is outdated, racist, and sexist. There are parts where she mentioned ethnic food is considered "out there", some parts where she said something like how in general the groom shows zero interest in wedding planning, or the parts she said 99.9999 percent of us (assuming brides) want to appear taller and thinner in their dress.
This book is extremely detailed, and it does talk about every little thing you could possibly think of pertaining to weddings. That being said, I could see this book easily overwhelming people because of how full it is with wedding details. Also, if you are looking to have a wedding on a budget, you'll want to take a lot of this book with a grain of salt. But still, it's quite educational.
Honestly this was the only resource I used to plan my wedding and it had EVERYTHING! With all the blogs, Pinterest boards and Instagram, it can be overwhelming to know what to do and when to do it. I feel confident that this book has everything you need to plan your dream wedding.
Of the books my fiancee and I bought to plan our wedding, this was the only one that was actually useful. This is mainly because it is exhaustively detailed about etiquette and the expectations of a "normal wedding". I intensely dislike the wedding industry that this book presupposes, but having it as a resource was really helpful for choosing where and how to diverge from 'normal'. 'Lets consult Mindy' became a common phrase over the past year even though we usually rolled our eyes at the answer.
SO much amazing information I never knew I needed! Super long and detailed but it’s a great resource for everything from cuts of suits to day of schedules.
This book is everything you didn’t know you needed to plan a wedding, down to questions to ask each vendor over the phone. Holy Grail if you are planning an outrageous, over the top event.
lots of information - details on any topic you could think of. I borrowed this from the library but will buy a copy to use while I help plan my daughter's wedding - she already bought her own copy.
