Coolmore Stud is the world's largest breeding farm for thoroughbred horses. In this book, Alan Conway tells the story of how Coolmore Stud and its training operation have come to dominate the world of horse breeding and racing. Using the stories of the people involved, including the legendary Syndicate of Magnier, O'Brien and Robert Sangster, and of the famous horses it has produced, this book charts the rise of one of Ireland's greatest sporting success stories. I was hoping for more colour about behind the scenes. I finished the book without learning anything new about the people involved. It's mostly coverage of Coolmore's success on the track - most of which readers will already know.
It's an interesting book detailing Coolmore today. There were a few facts in it that had me scratching my head due to being a little off but that happens in most biography-type books so I'm not holding it against the book too much. Worth a read if you want to know more about Coolmore as it is in this century.
