Simone Weil is a frighteningly bold and original thinker. You could fairly call her a modern gnostic, but she's ultimately in a class of one. Fascinated by her, I imagined the intellect and sensibility of Weil in an American adolescent and turned it into a short story: A Theology of Anorexia, published by Salmagundi. A link to this story can be found on my Blog: Jacob Russell's Barking Dog.
