Who is Jake Maddox? Athlete, author, world-traveler–or all three? He has surfed in Hawaii, scuba-dived in Australia, and climbed the mountains of Peru and Alaska. His books range from the most popular team sports to outdoor activities to survival adventures and even to auto racing. His exploits have inspired numerous writers to walk in his footsteps–literally! Each of his stories is stamped with teamwork, fair play, and a strong sense of self-worth and discipline. Always a team-player, Maddox realizes it takes more than one man (or woman) to create a book good enough for a young reader. He hopes the lessons learned on the court, field, or arena and the champion sprinter pace of his books can motivate kids to become better athletes and lifelong readers.

Cheer Challenge, by Jake Maddox, is an inspirational book! Cheerleading is all about team work. When Amanda get voted to be cheer caption, she is so excited! But, it's much more work than she intended it to be. From making decisions, to inspiring the team, it's not an easy task. To inspire the team, Amanda decides to enter them in a cheer competition! Everything works out perfectly after that, until her best friend, Rachel, makes a bad decision. Amanda has the courage, confidence, and spirit to be cheer caption! Will they win the competition? Will Rachel and Amanda become friends again? Find out for yourself!
I loved this book because I love reading about dance, gymnastics, and Cheerleading! It was a book that sparked my interest. It was a very quick read, and I really enjoyed it.

Amanda has always wanted to be captain of the cheerleading squad. She gets the opportunity to be the captain and realizes that it's harder than she thought. She talks to her coach about some things and a cheer competition that's a few towns away. She inspires them by signning the squad up for the competition. They come in first place at their first competition.
