The relationship between Izumi Sena and Leo Tsukinaga has always fascinated me and yet unsettled me, and this short story [ Lionheart ] really seals the deal for me.
Their entire relationship really is just horrible toxicity and codependency and just sad sad situations. see this from Izumi's POV, watching him see someone so close to him suffer and unable to reach him or help it completely wrecks him. especially since he lives off all the compliments Leo gives him
[ "Because there's just one person who likes me, and say that I'm beautiful. He affirmed me, loved me, this youth made me feel glad that I was born... Because even if it was just for a short while, my life existed." ]
Although this is a Izumi POV based short story, you can see Leo's thoughts and feelings very clearly as well. whether it's his self depreciating comments [ "Thinking of my family... It's probably better for them if I'm not around." ] or how he would only come out to talk with the excuse of his sister's safety [ Looking surprised, the little sister turned back -- The door of his room that was near the entrance opened just a little bit.... To me whose lips are twisted in this slight amusement, he groaned out with a hoarse voice. "Don't make Ruka cry." ] you know exactly what he's feeling.
Even without reading any Knights stories or knowing much about these characters, you can just feel the emotion seeping through the words and phrases, Akira's writing is just so beautiful and it really comes to shows in these short stories, unlike normal Ensemble Stars stories where it's just purely dialogue. It's painful and it's lovely and it's anything you would want and I love it so much.

this is insane. i always cared for izumi's character and i can say lionheart ruined me .. i see him as someone who lies to himself . someone who keeps everything in without speaking about it which is very literally why izumi and leo are Izumi And Leo !! senacchi you are paying for my therapy
