What a ridiculous story! The heroine was on the rebound and still totally shattered about the demise of her long-term relationship with her cheating ex-fiancé. She had no business getting involved with anyone else until she straightened out that hot mess of insecurities, neurosis, and depression inside of her. It was exhausting being in her head. Why would she refuse any physical intimacy with her fiancé for three years based on her “principles” but jump the hero’s bones after a few days of meeting him, if it wasn’t some desperate impulse. She eventually convinced herself it was love but I wasn’t buying it. It was a Greek summer fling, and probably motivated by a combination of revenge and fantasy but she had to rationalize it to give it some meaning. It can’t have been love or she wouldn’t have agreed to go out with the ex-fiancé again, lying to him about her relationship with the hero, and introducing the hero to her ex as a “friend.” As for the hero, he lies by omission. He expects her to let down her guard and tell her entire life story but he keeps quiet about anything personal, like the fact that he is an inconsolable widower who has sworn off marriage but wouldn’t mind a little dalliance. He was in it for a fling too and his abrupt proposal at the end was completely unbelievable. I have a headache now.
