Struggling with giving it a 3.5/5 or a 4/5 because it was good, but I also had some major issues with it.
The idea of it was really good, the different point of views and all. The story really surprised me, I was definitely not expecting the turn it took. I started reading it barely knowwing anything about it: all I had heard was that Ivy's sister had gone missing and that she was dealing with it. And it turned out to be so much more than that.
Characters wise, I felt bad for Ivy all the way, I felt pity toward her. I was pretty much always on her side. As for Alana, at the beginning I really hated her, then I started to shift opinion on her as she was trying to make amend. Though that last scene with her reminded me of why I couldn't stand her at the beginning. I also had some troubles with the doctor. She's helping Ivy, okay that's great, but she sometime sounded extremely incompetent, she often sounded like she was scared of her patient though you would think she'd be used to harsh patients, and Ivy was not too bad in that category. Though she often seemed like she didn't know what she was doing, and it somewhat upset me.
The one thing that upset me all along this book, was the writing, it was so conflicting. The way the sentences were turned was most of the times really nice, and actually beautifully wirtten. Though there also were some huge grammatical errors. Some of them at first I thought the author just forgot to correct that, but no, whenever she would use that phrase she would no write it the right way(i.e. too instead of to, what instead of why, ....) and there also were quite some repetitions. The thing is that it was just in some passages. So it makes me think that the author did not pay as much attention to every chapter she wrote since some of them were absolutely fantastic but others were just urgh... They were there to make to story go on but it was pretty bad at times...
Overall the story was really good though, and I really enjoyed it. And it definitely made me want to pick up more books about pshycological disorders.
