A Tale of Two Guinea Pigs

Rate this book
Hello and welcome to the world of Teddy and Pip! I sincerely hope that you and your children will enjoy my stories. They are especially fun to read out loud together (and not just for kids!) A real pick-me-up when you need a smile or to just plain laugh out loud. Great for classroom reading time, especially if the class has or loves guinea pigs!

I started writing funny guinea pig stories about three years ago, inspired by my own guinea pigs, Maggie and Peanut. (I now have two more guinea pigs, Mimi and Miranda.) Originally, I simply wanted to create stories that were funny and fun for my own daughter. Now I hope that kids all over will enjoy the antics of Teddy and Pip for years to come.

I'm glad I'm only writing a review of this book and not trying to classify it! I opened it expecting an adventure with guinea-pigs, and I wasn't disappointed: there are two of them, Teddy and Pip, hyperactive, self-centred and wisecracking. If guinea-pigs could talk, they would talk like Teddy and Pip. But it's also a detective story, and the real star is nine-year-old Molly Jane Fisher, who collects grandmothers and solves mysteries. And that's not all: there's even a romance story in the background between two of the minor characters. I enjoyed this book immensely and I think I'll be sending copies to guinea-pig-loving friends.

A Big Tale of Mystery For Two Little Pets

Posted 09/17/09 On Amazon.com: Teddy and Pip find themselves in an unfamiliar circumstance with loads of questions about how and why their life is being turned upset down. Luckily help finds them! The story line takes children through several twists and turns before Teddy and Pip find some answers. The two guinea pigs are so funny. Images of them during times of excitement easily come to mind. Any child that loves furry little animals will love this book. I highly recommend it.

This is an amazingly funny, charming and engaging children's book. It is written in "classical English mystery" style, but for children and with a nine year old girl as a detective. The guinea pigs are hilarious, and adorable, and unlike any guinea pigs you have ever known, but if there ever was a contest for "the most guinea pig's behavior among guinea pigs" Pip and Teddy will win it hands down.

The story is beautifully and eloquently written. The characters brought to life so well, I could almost hear Pip perform his songs. Molly Jane, the nine year old detective, reminded me of Miss Marple. Well, much, much younger Miss Marple.

I think this is a fantastic children's book. I would especially recommend it for children who own several pets. For children who have guinea pig pets this book is a must, because it finally proves the obvious: Guinea Pigs are the best animals in the whole wide world and they CAN TALK, though they do not always choose to do so.

This is a very well written and enjoyable story by an author who has a great talent for story telling.
The main characters observations; interventions and thoughts about her parents were very real and extremely comical at times.
The humour is present throughout the whole story, which is long enough to get really stuck into.
I feel that the story appeals to all ages quite cleverly by hooking into the child part of us all.
I easily related to the main characters experiences of home life and enjoyed the whole air of mystery surrounding the goings on in the world of guinea pigs.
I would recommend this book to young and old alike and feel that some great stories are going to be coming our way from this author.

I won't lie I was a bit skeptical with this Amazon published book, but aside from a few backward quotation marks at the beginning (which my laptop wants to do too) it wasn't so bad. Honestly, I've read books that went through a professional publisher that are way worse. (Looking at you, Truely Devious).
I ended up really enjoying reading this. The story is fairly standard, but what drew me in is what drew me in the first place: the Guinea pigs. The way they talk is hilarious! It absolutely had me in stitches. I will definitely read more of this series just for that.

This is a fantastic book about a girl who is looking for a mystery to solve. When she finds one, she discovers that her neighbor's talking guinea pigs are key. This book is hilarious, fun and gives you a view of what the word might look like from the eyes of a guinea pig. My 7 year old has been reading it over and over since he was 6. My 9 year old son loves it as well - I would say it is appropriate for kids ages 6-10.

I really liked the idea of the book and the whole plot about Amelia and Wally but I couldn't get past how annoying Pip was. I get that he was supposed to be annoying... it worked! However, I am going to give this book to a fourth grader I know who has guinea pigs in his classroom and see what he thinks about it. I may just be the wrong age for it.
