This series chronicles the lives and important contributions of great scientists from around the world. Each title includes several hands-on activities that give young people a deeper understanding of the scientist's work. Excellent for book reports, these books fill the need for over-100 page biographies of strong role models in the field of science. Each book includes chapter notes, a glossary, a further reading list, Internet addresses, a chronology, maps, and an index.Niels Bohr was one of the greatest scientific minds in history. In addition to being one of the first scientists to accurately explain atomic structure, Bohr also added a great deal to the development of quantum theory, a branch of physics. Bohr's work in quantum theory eventually helped lead to many devices like lasers and transistors. However, Niels Bohr's contributions to history are not limited to science alone. Bohr was always a strong supporter of open communications and cooperation between all the different countries of the world.

This book provides a concise yet short biography of Bohr, along with explanations of relevant scientific concepts for laymen. It includes his details of his affairs with Einstein and other scientists, his roles in developing research institutes in Denmark, his role in helping Jewish scientists during WW2 and inspiring modern ethics regarding nuclear energy and open source scientific involvement. Just like the title indicates, Niels Bohr is not only a physicist but also a moral philosopher.
