About: Weekly Reader: Summer Express – Between Grades PreK & K is a children’s workbook provided by Scholastic Teaching Resources. It was published on 1/15/17 under the series of Weekly Reader: Summer Express for variety of age groups. This particular workbook is intended for children ages 4 to 5 and grades P to K.
My Experience: I have my 5 year-old son started working on this Weekly Reader: Summer Express for grades between PreK & K starting on 4/2/17 and finished it on 5/6/17. This workbook is excellent and makes learning super fun. I love that my son have these types of learning tools to keep his minds active and his learning expand. This is our first experience with Scholastic workbooks. We already love Scholastic picture books and free online printable exercises. This workbook is awesome because there are so many ways to learning the basics and the colorful pictures of flowers, fruits, animals, things are an added bonus.
This workbook is organized by week, with 10 pages of learning each week. It is designed to have the child work on 2 pages a day and each day, the child will earn 2 stars for the completed lessons. At the end of the week, the child will have completed 5 days of lessons or 10 pages of activities and will earn a certificate. Each week is separated out by colors so that it’s easy to keep track when the week ends. There are a mixtures of numbers, alphabet, compare size, differentiate more vs. fewer, math, handwriting, and reading & phonics in each week. I love the reading comprehension at the end of each week. The way this workbook is designed is excellent because it keeps children’s learning consistent from day to day and help enhance children’s interest in learning.
As a parent, I really enjoy sitting down with my son and helping him work through this workbook. I love the many fun ways of learning. Each page is filled with different activities that it feels like they are playing a game. Some days he actually volunteers to work on this workbook over his other lessons where he feels it was more of a homework than doing this. I highly recommend parents to invest on this workbook or similar ones because it makes learning fun and kids actually enjoys doing it. Scholastic has many workbooks for all ages. Your kids thinks they are playing games when in fact they are actually learning, it makes your part in enhancing their knowledge a lot easier. I want my kid to excel and workbooks like these helps a lot because I work full-time and I just don’t have the expertise and energy to make learning fun for him. Therefore, I highly recommend you to give it a try. Your kids will love you for it!
