As the travels of Mr. Mikel in Cuba unfolds, one gets the faint impression of reading the diary of a modern day Ernest Hemingway exploring Cuba and its wonders like he did in the late thirties. A cadre of local Cubans and traveling foreigners come to life in this descriptive yet succinct telling of a quiet man slowing embracing the culture and fauna that he eventually comes to love.
