About the author

French academic and translator of classical and modern Arab literature. His interests and publishing fields include gender studies, Arab literature, the relationship between the spoken and the written in Arab novels, analyzing Arabic multilingualism. He is currently the head of Arabic and Hebrew Studies Department in Sorbonne (Paris IV) where he teaches modern Arab literature and translation.
