Fritz Vögtle, geboren 1939 in Ehingen/Donau, studierte Chemie in Freiburg sowie Chemie und Medizin in Heidelberg. Promotion 1965, Habilitation 1969, danach bis 1975 Professor an der Universität Würzburg. Ab 1975 bis zu seiner Emeritierung 2006 Professor und Direktor des Kekulé-Instituts für Organische Chemie und Biochemie an der Universität Bonn. 1986 Gastprofessur an der Universität Barcelona.
Auszeichnungen u. a.: Literaturpreis für «Comprehensive Supramolecular Chemistry» (1990), Lise-Meitner-Alexander-von-Humboldt-Preis (1993).
Fritz Vögtle starb 2017 in Bonn.

Veröffentlichungen u. a.: «Dendritic Molecules» und «Dendrimers and Dendrons» (zus. mit George R. Newkome und Charles N. Moorefield, 1996 bzw. 2001), Co-Autor des elfbändigen Werks «Comprehensive Supramolecular Chemistry» (1996). Forschungsgebiete: Supramolekulare Chemie, Dendrimere, Struktur-Chiroptik-Beziehungen, konkave Moleküle und Catenane und Rotaxane. Für «rowohlts monographien» schrieb er die Bände über Thomas Alva Edison und Alfred Nobel und, zusammen mit Peter Ksoll, über Marie Curie.
