Moving in Circles: Willa Muir's Writings provides a re-evaluation of all her work, published and unpublished. It considers her in the contexts of modernism in Scotland and elsewhere; it also explores feminism of the 1920s and 30s and the extent to which her radical exploration of gender and the position of women underwrites all her work.
Aileen Christianson is a Senior Lecturer in Scottish Literature at the University of Edinburgh. Her interest in letters and journals' relationship to published writings, as well as critical analyses of a neglected Scottish modernist writer, has been explored in her monograph, Moving in Circles: Willa Muir's Writings (2007). She has also worked in the area of gender and nation mainly in relation to twentieth century Scottish women writers.
