Ring of Conspiracy

A short time after Paul Lander marries Two Moons and opens his gun shop in Fort Collins, someone begins stirring up trouble against him for being a ‘squaw-man.’ The County Commissioners, headed by Ben Evans, are outraged when the Landers’ house is burned down. The arsonists are caught, and the decision is made to appoint a Town Marshal. Paul is chosen with Jeb Pelletier as his Deputy. Controversy continues to swirl around Paul’s appointment as Marshal, instigated by new resident Nicholas Dunn. His motives remain a mystery until the two arsonists are shot dead by hidden snipers, and Dun’s true identity is revealed. Violence increases as the Marshals are ambushed, leaving Jeb hanging between life and death. The Pelletiers come down from the canyon bent on helping Paul get to the bottom of the mystery. What takes shape is a ring of conspiracy, a scorpion whose stinger is in Larimer County, and the head half a nation away. A scorpion that is about to be crushed under the Pelletiers’ boots. Formerly titled We Never Back Down, published by Bottom of the Hill Publishing. The rewritten and enhanced novel is now published by Double Diamond Books under the title Ring of Conspiracy.

I have been a writer of adventure novels of the Old West. I have now branched out to writing contemporary crime novels with a suspense/mystery base. What I feel makes these unique is that they are set in the modern West and Alaska, as opposed to exotic world and big city settings. They involve average people and local law enforcement agencies.

My writing influence comes from my ancestral roots. Mountain men, voyageurs, pioneers, and explorers make up the branches of my family tree. My paternal grandfather was Blackfoot Indian from Montana. My maternal grandfather was a Minnesota lumberjack, both men were born in the 1800’s.

As a lifelong outdoorsman I have inherited that pioneer blood and followed in the footsteps of both my families. I have experienced life in the Alaska bush, as well as the wilderness of the Rocky and Cascade Mountains, as a working cowboy, guide, horsepacker, hunter, and trapper.
I also spent several years as a Colorado Deputy Sheriff. This experience in the law enforcement field allows me an intimate insight to the system that I weave into my new crime genre stories.
I incorporate all of my experiences into my stories to ingrain them with authenticity and draw the reader into the story by their realism and a personal knowledge of the people and lifestyle involved.

I have near to 500 fiction and non-fiction works published. Included are: 19 novels and short story collections, 70 short stories, and inclusion in 18 anthologies. I am the first 3 time winner of the Will Rogers Medallion Award, in 2008 for Best Western Fiction, and again in 2013 for Best Western Humor, and 2014 for Best Western Novel. Nine of my short stories have earned Reader’s Choice Awards.

History as it really was!

This book is so exciting, it's hard to keep up with how large the family has grown! I think that if the history of the new continent (Canada, The US and Mexico) was taught in schools, in the manner Mr Fisher has presented it, Patriotism would be the core of of eduction today!

Good Read

Love the characters and the twists and turns thrown to make them believable. Like the controversy between the north and south. I know it was evident all the way up till today in some areas of our country.

Another great story

Another great read in the Poudre Canyon Saga. Quite a mix of plot lines to keep the story moving. Fisher also brought back some old characters to close a few plot lines up.
