While I missed the second book in this series, I felt like I knew enough about Blue and Brady to read Fade to Blue. Although, I am a little curious about Blue's music career and will go back to book two and see how that came about. This time around we see more of how Blue and Brady deal with real life as a couple rather than the focus completely on them. They have been through a lot and it's impressive how mature Blue is now as compared to before.
Unlike the first book, we are integrated into the family and friends of Blue and Brady. Blue's musician buddies hanging out and practicing, as well as Brady with his golfing buddies. When the S starts to hit the fan with each of thier social lives, it's all about keeping the tension down between them and to work as a team.
Brady's brother, who is an absolute jerk, has turned life upside down for Brady as well as himself. Because he is a good guy, Brady takes the blame for his brother's actions and now has to decide what to do next. All the while, Blue's best friends are divided by a terrible accident and are starting to choose sides with Blue in the middle.
The balance between Brady and Blue is perfect. While some of Blue's insecurity sneaks out every so often, he has grown into quite the man. He is out and proud and very in love with Brady. This time around he gets to be the heavy in the relationship,the voice of reason. Helping Brady as best as he can with the mess left by the brother. Brady on the other hand gets to show his more vulnerable (and sexy) side. I loved how hitting the punching bag was one of his go to release of stress moves for such a well put together on the outside kind of guy.
Fade to Blue is well written and a great addition to the series. Like I said, I missed book two, however didn't feel lost as I read. More curious about how Blue became so famous. Not as sexy as the first one, yet kept me interested up until the very last page.

This is the third book in the Blue series and I would recommend not to read this as a standalone. I found greater enjoyment and understanding of the characters from reading the first two books in the series (Blue and Rhythm and Blue).
Blue and Brady are now firmly committed in their relationship. Brady has now pared down his hours in his investment business to enable him to have more quality time with Blue. Blue is now greatly established as a name in the song writing business after entering the Grammy’s hall of fame. With both now fully invested in their new work and home life balance, their lives are now full of contentment. Coming up to their fifth anniversary it was time to review their next move in their lives together. But then life has a way of throwing tests into the karma of love, and this time both men have friends and family issues throwing a big curve ball in their bubble of love and contentment.
I would say this book focused more on Brady and his family this time and looked to Blue to be the more supportive in the relationship. It just went to prove how much Blue has grown since Brady first met him as that beaten and broken boy in his back yard all those years ago. This time it is Brady’s brother causing the storm and tests the calm that Brady usually displays. I must admit this spoilt little rich boy would test the patience of a saint!
There was also some conflict in Blue’s circle of friends and was lovely if not surprising to see Blue become the mediator between the standoff.
There were some deep emotional issues for both Brady and Blue to work through and was gorgeous to see them both work through this together. There was no angst in their own love of each other, just a silent acknowledgment that they were there for each other. We got to see much more of Brady’s parents in this one and how Brady was conflicted in his feelings towards his brother and how to do the right thing in the eyes of his mother.
As with the theme of this series it is not a steam roller with lots of drama and angst (although I guess Brady’s brother did bring in a little of that with his show of rejection against Brady) and it didn’t need it. The storyline was engaging and thought provoking enough without the requirement of suspense driven additional action. It was another winner in the Blue and Brady love story and I look forward to each instalment every time. Four stars.

Fade to Blue is the third book in the Blue Series by D.P. Denman.
I looked forward to each installment of this series and I was not disappointed , not in the least.
Brady and Blue have a strong relationship and life could be really good.
But then they get thrown a curveball.
Can they overcome their emotional issues?
Fade to Blue is more Brady´s than Blue´s book.

ARC received for an honest review
This is the 3rd in the Blue series, and whilst it could be read as a stand alone, I feel that it would be better to have read the first 2 books in the series first to get the full effect of Blue and Brady's story.
For me, having read the first 2 books, Fade to Blue fell a little bit flat for me.
I am not sure if it was because for most of the story we were focused on people other than Brady and Blue, and that they felt like secondary characters instead of our MCs? Or that it felt that the storylines that were the main ones felt like they dragged out a little bit.
But this could just be me.
The times when we were completely focused on Brady and Blue I adored. I love how far their relationship has come since we first met them, how strong they are still going. And I loved that we got a little glimpse of Liam again!
So while this is not my favourite of the series, it was still a sweet read.
I look forward to what D.P Denman brings us next

This is the third book in the Blue series and I would definitely recommend they be read in order, they are not stand-alones! I loved getting Blue and Brady back and even more I loved that the focus of this book was more on Brady and Blue’s struggles with outsiders than struggles between the two of them. This book focuses more on friendships and family relationships and how they influence their lives, while Brady and Blue maintain the strong relationship they have built together!
Brady finds out that his brother Terry is being investigated for some very serious investment crimes, putting his livelihood in danger as well. He’s trying to deal with the emotions of having a family member in trouble and the betrayal he feels towards Terry’s actions. At the same time there are some pretty major issues happening between Blue’s circle of friends that threatens to break up their close knit circle. Both Brady and Blue are faced with some deeply emotional choices in this book.
I loved seeing Brady and Blue come together in this book. There really isn’t angst or drama for these two men in terms of their relationship. I loved this – I really enjoyed seeing how strong their bond has become and how well they know each other. These two know what it is the other needs and is right there to give comfort or support or a push in the right direction. It felt good as a reader to see that relationship blossom after everything these two have been through. I adored them as a couple and the moments they shared together.
I also enjoyed how the drama was handled in this story. When Blue’s friends are hurt, he obviously hurt too, but he wasn’t just going to sit back and let them destroy each other or themselves. He stepped up when needed and did it so well. At the same time Brady is dealing with his family and loyalty issues, wondering if it’s okay to walk away from family ever, taking into account what Blue dealt with from his family.
I thought this was a great addition to the Blue series, showing just how far these characters have grown and how much is truly between them. I loved seeing their strong bond together and the sweet, romantic things they do for each other. I have loved Blue and Brady since the first book and Fade to Blue just made my heart happy for this couple! I would highly recommend this series – it’s got heart, and love and drama too!

As I seem to be warning quite a lot lately, do not jump into this book without realizing just what you’re getting into! It’s a really, really great story, so let’s start with that. Human beings are incredibly complex, which means our relationships are also quite complex in a number of ways. While this obviously applies to romantic relationships, it can be said about every sort of relationship we have. This story explores the nature of so many relationships in both Brady and Blue’s lives. Even more than that, though, it delves into some of the most difficult experiences and feelings that we ever have to deal with as humans. Both Blue and Brady experience betrayal in some form and have to wrestle with their reactions to this as they navigate the process of forgiveness.
While I very much appreciate the realism that the author strives for in this story, given the nature of what the characters are experiencing, there are some elements of this story that readers might not be prepared for. For example, there is reference to abuse, self-harm, and possibly to suicidal behavior throughout this novel. It is quite relevant to what the characters are going through and very real in the lives of homosexual men, particularly those whose parents and family members are not supportive of their lifestyle. There is also discussion of Blue’s past with gay conversion therapy (do excuse any spoiling I may have done if you, like me, have not read the previous books in this series!). Again, this is all very real and I appreciate this realism, but it’s a difficult subject readers will want to be prepared for.
All in all, I found these characters to be very real and quite loveable. By the time I finished this book, I found myself wanting to dive in and read everything related to them. There are two books that precede this one in Blue’s series. There is also a different series detailing the life of Liam, who is a friend of Blue’s, as well. I really enjoyed this story and I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be reading more from this author in the future.

In this book, Brady's brother becomes obsessed with instant riches that provides an international situation that is causing heart ache for all involved. And Blue's friends are also going through a rough patch as two of their friends are involved in circumstances that can place a hatchet in their lives.
Settle in for another round of Brady and Blue as their anniversary is upstaged by drama.

For some reason I just couldnt get into this story. I have to admit I havent read the first 2 books in this series so I dont have the backstory but I am not sure that would have helped with this story.
Blue seems like a good character but he was just to timid for me, I thought DP could have wrote him much stronger based on what happened to him in his past and how he has overcome those experiences.
I thought this would be about the relationship between Blue and Brady but felt it was all about Brady's brother and these guys were the supporting characters. The sex scenes didnt do anything for me as well. Brady seemed so wishy washy then the next minute he was dominating Blue in the bedroom. The personalities just didnt match well for me. I am not sure if it was the large age difference which was brought up quite a bit or just the chemistry was off for me.

This is my first DP Denman book and while I did enjoy certain parts of it, I wasn't wowed. It may have helped if I read the first 2 books in the series as I was left with a few questions. The writing and the premise of the book were good, the chemistry between Brady and Blue wasn't as intense as I like in my main characters, and I felt that the drama surrounding Brady's brother overshadowed the story. I will read the rest of the series and I look forward to reading future works from this author.

In book 3, Blue and Brady are stronger than ever and still just as good together. When one needs the strength of the other, he gets it. While we get another peak into their lives, this book seemed to revolve around the side characters more than just these two; the drama stems from these side characters, not Brady and Blue. It is a good story albeit a little slow for me. Brady gets quite a blow in this book and it takes most of the book to be resolved. Blue is his rock during most of this situation and shows how much he’s grown over the years and how much in love he is with Brady.
I definitely would recommend reading this series in order as the history helps with the perspective of the characters. I would read the next book in this series if it was more about Blue and Brady although I’m not sure what else can happen with them.

This is the first book by this author that I have read. Would reading prior books have beneficial? Yes probably however it isn't a problem.
Brady is a retired money man who has a positive work ethic and is a self made millionaire. His life partner is a younger man called Blue who writes best selling, Grammy award winning songs.
There is a huge amount going on in the story and although the issue with Brady's brother starts and concludes the story it isn't the only one.
Self reflection is a big part of the story and is well written. Character and setting descriptions are detailed and easy to visualise however the story dragged a bit for me, I felt like it was stretched out a bit that's why I gave it 3 1/2 stars. Definitely worth the read though.

These are my Happily Ever After Novel Thoughts...
Blue and Brady are back and it's been a few years. Blue is an award winning songwriter and Brady is mostly retired.
I love how this story takes the guys through the paces as they each deal with a bit of a crisis. Blue's crisis isn't actually his own, but Scoob's. Blue gets a chance to repay Scoob's generosity and be his rock for a change.
Brady's crisis involves his brother and some shady issues resulting in the Royal Canadian Mounties calling.
The intricacies in this story make it an interesting and quick moving story. I'm so glad I'm reading them one right after the other because it feels like I'm visiting with friends. Although, I really need to start seeing Blue as a young man rather than the teenager he was in the first book.
I'm ready to dig into the fourth book now. Grab you a copy of these books and read along with me as Brady and Blue reach for their Happily Ever After.

We rejoin Brady and Blue a few years later from book two.
Blue's career is still thriving, and also more confident in himself. In this story we watch Blue take on the role Brady has taken with Blue. He is more grown up in this story, and not scared.
