Who better to guide expectant mothers through this nine-month miracle than the legions of women who have come before them and have shared similar cravings, hormonal highs and lows, backaches, and bliss?
By turns sentimental, sweet, and sometimes silly, Pregnant for 100 Years is a collection of tales of pregnancies past and present, shared by moms-and a few observations by other innocent bystanders. It will entertain, enlighten, and enrich the nine months of pregnancy...even when it feels a hundred years long.
I call this a "filler book". It doesn't really have a plot or story line. It's a book I'm reading while I wait for my next book to come in the mail. It's definitely entertaining and funny. The whole book is really just small one-paragraph or one-sentence stories from the lives and experiences of different first timers and veteran mothers about their journey through their pregnancies. You could read this whole book in a couple of hours at most.
"When women smile admirably at my blooming belly I can't help to wonder if they are smiling because of the baby or because they are thinner than me". - Alison, cashier, pregnant 2003
-----excerpt from the Hormonal Humor chapter of the book.
Very so-so. For the size of the book, I expected more than a few lines per page. And as a twice-pregnant woman, it really didn't offer much I haven't heard I million times. I was hoping for some good comic relief, but the only place I found it was in the chapter on things kids said to their pregnant moms.
You can easily sit in the bookstore and read this, so I wouldn't bother buying it.
Funny little stories from pregnant women throughout the last century discussing prego dreams, labor experiences, and hormones! It was an easy read - humorous at times and reassuring at others.
