A nostalgic read for those who love Pokemon/PokemonGo, Ghost Island and the Mystery of Charmander is a cute episode of kids discovering a hidden world of Pokemon and entering a tournament to save mankind. No pressure, right? There are some game play errors on the part of the author (Dittos transform into the Pokemon they fight rather than its toughest opponent, eggs are "lucky" versus "magic," and the bushes don't rustle when Pokemon are nearby); however, as in all fiction, the responsibility to believe in the story rests on the reader. And hey, the beauty of writing is you get to make up stuff! Though aimed at young readers, this brought back fun memories of when the map-based game was first released and enjoyed by players of all ages.

I picked this book up on a whim. I had gone to the library to pick up a graphic novel (which they did not have in) and was quite disappointed. On my way out, I spotted this at the corner of my eye, near the kids section. I do not hide from the children's section of the library- there's some awesome finds in there! So I picked this book up and started reading it that night.

This was (unsurprisingly) a very quick read. I easily could have finished it in a day. I've been a lifelong fan of pokemon, and especially like the new app Pokemon Go. This story was different and exciting. It wasn't just two kids playing Pokemon Go- it was more than that.

There are twists and turns throughout, and reading this made me feel like a real pokemon trainer. Definitely a must read for pokemon fans.
