The Viscount's Tempting Minx

Certain individuals might consider Lady Amelia Pembroke a managing sort of female, but truly, most people would be lost without her help. Why, the latest on-dit is that rakish Viscount Sheffield is canceling the fête of the year because he hasn't time for silly soirees. He doesn't need time—he needs her!

The Earl's Defiant Wallflower

Oliver York returns from war to find his father dead, his finances in arrears, and himself the new Earl of Carlisle. If he doesn't marry an heiress—and fast!—he and his tenants are going to be pitching tents down by the Thames. He definitely shouldn't be trading kisses with a penniless debutante... no matter how captivating she is!

The Captain's Bluestocking Mistress

Spinster Jane Downing wants off the shelf and into the arms of a hot-blooded man. Specifically, the dark and dangerous Captain Grey. She may not be destined to be his wife, but nothing will stop her from being his mistress. She could quote classical Greek by the age of four. How hard can it be to learn the language of love?

The Major's Faux Fiancee

Miss Daphne Vaughan hates that crying off her fake betrothal will destroy Major Blackpool's chances of finding a real bride. She plots to make him jilt her first. Who cares if it ruins her? She never wanted a husband anyway. But the major is equally determined that she break the engagement. With both of them on their worst behavior, neither expects their fake betrothal to lead to love...

The Brigadier's Runaway Bride

After being left for dead on the battlefield, Brigadier Edmund Blackpool is scarred inside and out. He fights his way home only to discover his intended before the altar with his best friend. He'll be the one to marry her, no matter what she wants! But when his new bride disappears with his child, he must reopen his wounds to win the most important battle of his life.

The Pirate's Tempting Stowaway

Captain Blackheart leads a simple life of wenching, pirating, and treasure-hunting. He steers clear of respectable women — until the day he's paid to cross the ocean to fetch a gently-bred lady. No one mentioned his cargo was feisty and passionate! From the moment she boards his ship, his trouble has just begun...

The Duke's Accidental Wife

The Duke of Ravenwood isn't cold and haughty, but a secret romantic who has always dreamt of marrying for love. Instead, he gets Miss Katherine Ross — a headstrong hoyden intent on unraveling his carefully ordered world. He doesn't know whether to kiss her or throttle her.

The Viscount's Tempting Minx
This was a fun short story. It goes by perhaps a bit too quickly because I’m not sure I really got to know either of our two leading characters. I quite liked Benedict. He seems to be a noble man as well as being a nobleman. Amelia is where it starts to break down for me. I don’t like “managing” heroines. I fully realize that for most women of the time this was the only control they had in their lives, but I still don’t enjoy reading about them. I’m just not a fan of manipulation. I did like seeing that Amelia got a taste of her own medicine and that Benedict was just as capable of managing her as she was of him. I’m intrigued by the concept and look forward to reading more about the Dukes of War.
The Earl's Defiant Wallflower
I liked this book, but I wasn’t able to fall in love with it. I think the lion’s share of my issues can be traced back to the overall length of the book. There just wasn’t enough time to dig deeper into these characters or their motivations. I thought Grace and Oliver were charming, though not particularly accurate for the time period. And the deus ex machina ending to the story is perfectly lovely, but it left me gnashing my teeth in frustration.
The Captain's Bluestocking Mistress
Being quiet and bookish myself, it was so easy for me to connect with Jane. And despite his own fears, Xavier is everything noble and lovable about a military hero. I wanted to hug the stuffing out of this pair while at the same time I wanted to bang their heads together. They both have such deep feelings of inadequacy that it hurt my heart to see them fight their connection so hard. However, I don’t understand their reconciliation scene. I know Say anything has made it iconic, but it didn’t really fit this story. On the flip side of the coin, I particularly loved the element of humor the hell-cat adds.
The Major's Faux Fiancee
This didn’t completely work for me. I adore Bartholomew. My heart hurt for him and all of the negative emotions he surrounds himself with. Daphne made me want to throw heavy objects at breakable things. At first, I thought I was going to like her, but very quickly she started coming across as a sanctimonious prig. I admire her drive to make her world a better place, but I just don’t understand what Bartholomew sees in the woman she’s become. However, this book has one of the most spectacular, emotional proposal scenes I’ve ever read. (I could have done without the schmaltzy parental flip-flop at the end, though.)
The Brigadier's Runaway Bride
This pair are utterly heartbreaking. They love each other so much and want so badly for everything to be perfect for one another. Edmund’s suffering from PTSD and Sarah appears to be afflicted with a case of post-partum depression keeping these lovers from properly connecting. I appreciate the gentle way the author handles both of these issues, even though neither one of them is really shown to be doing anything about getting better. I adored Edmund and Sarah’s offspring. Precocious doesn’t even begin to cover the proper description, but much more and I’m likely to be in spoiler territory. I felt their ending was a little rushed, but it’s a perfectly adorable way to close the story.
The Pirate's Tempting Stowaway
A little bit Pirates of the Caribbean, a little bit Peter Pan, and just a touch of Black Jack Savage for fun. Overall, I liked the story despite its complete and utter ridiculousness. I was with the book pretty much until we got to the part referenced by the title. That was where even my ability to suspend disbelief was stretched beyond its capacity to cope. I wasn’t able to fully believe in the connection between Blackheart and Clara. I could see the attraction, but not anything deeper than that. I also thought the ending was rushed and it left me feeling unsatisfied with a lot of how it played out. I am however, desperately looking forward to the next book in this series.
The Duke's Accidental Wife
Oof! This pair. Ravenwood made my heart hurt. As an introvert myself surrounded by a sea of extroverts, I can fully understand everything he does to appear as if he fits in. Everything he does to force himself to interact with people. It took me a lot of this book to actually warm up to Kate because of her disdainful attitude and harsh treatment of Ravenwood without even fully knowing him. Once I finally did, I was impressed with the lengths she was willing to go to in order to be a worthy duchess to Ravenwood. I enjoyed the way this book ended, but once again, I felt like it wrapped up a little too quickly.
All I Want
This little story is as quick as it is sweet. There’s not a lot of meat to it, but what we get of Matilda and Owen’s story is completely charming. You never forget your first love, and when it’s followed you from childhood, it’s even harder to get past. What happens when this pair of childhood sweethearts are brought back together? A wager unlike any other.
Holiday Reunion
Oh my gosh! This is completely adorable and utterly hilarious. This story is both silly and sweet. I found it to be the perfect check in with (almost) all the couples from the series. They kept me giggling and sighing with pleasure, which makes this one of my favorite kind of stories to read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.

I am utterly addicted to this series and have reread several of the books multiple times.

I personally have the individual ebooks, but this set is brilliant value so I would definitely recommend it to anyone new to the series.

Goodness, these are hot sexy books which require the reader to not look too closely at historical fact. I find that the actions of the H and h are not in keeping with the times. What h would allow herself to be caught alone with a man and proceed to not only kiss him but allow him to finger her? Fun and easy to read but not completely historically accurate to my mind.

I loved every single one of all the books in this series and was very pleasantly entertained while enjoying these easy to read stories about romance and falling in love, determination and compassion and yes, even at times, clever wit.
