This easy to read, follow and understand guide helped me write my first shorty story of 8000 words, create a platform, cover, and guidance in less than a month. I made a few mistakes of my own, but this book helped me understand self publishing. I have recommended this book to over 100 people. This is a game changer.

Proofread, Please!

This author is new to me, but it is clear that she thinks she’s a superstar. That’s what she spends the first two or three chapters on: making you feel as fluffy and powerful as she does. *GirlPower*! All that is well and good, but the author doesn’t stick to her guns and follow her own advice throughout the book. I am so disappointed. Somebody didn’t do their proofreading as there are a number of typos and tortured grammar in the book. One chapter title is even missing the first letter of the first word! The information is not very organized, either - she seems to get so excited about self promotion that she frequently gets ahead of the topic she begins to discuss, and even admits it! Sometimes she doubles back, sometimes not so much. Perhaps she is an excellent fiction writer, but she should follow her own advice and make a more linear outline for non fiction. She does openly admit that she outsources much, if not all, of the technical and art work involved in writing and publishing a book. So much for that $100 budget. I’m certain you can publish a book for under a hundred dollars, but not by following her advice. Her ideas for marketing collateral alone destroys her title. I think she knows that because she says you can pick and choose — but why do I need to read her book if that’s what I’m going to do? Several times while reading the book, I detected a shift in tone and style. I suspect these were entire portions written by someone else. More facts, less enthusiasm... and find a new proofreader — but keep the editor, as I suspect she wrote some of the more down to earth excerpts of this book.

Contains some great information for someone just starting out with self publishing. Unfortunately, her "under $100" budget doesn't seem to put out a quality product, as there were many typos and grammatical errors. Overall, very helpful book, though!

I found the title of the book misleading, although it did cover the information succinctly and well, the entire first portion of the book was about how to write stories, overcome writing block, ideas, organization etc. When looking at step by step for publishing, I wasn’t expecting. How to write a book, section that took over the majority of a book, I think that might have been a book in itself, and a shorter succinct book that kept to the topic would have been more enjoyable as that is what my expectation was
