Once upon a time, there was a young boy living in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. As the youngest of three children, the boy was small. He watched from off stage as his sister danced and twirled on stage in whatever production his mother’s ballet company was performing. The boy and his brother worked with their father to build sets, hang lights, and do whatever technical things needed to be accomplished for the ballet. The boy loved being with his family as he watched the stories unfold on the stage in front of him.

One day, when the boy was going into 7th grade, he decided he wanted to play the trumpet. He joined the band and practiced really hard. The boy enjoyed being in the band because it allowed him to be a small part of a powerful team. When that team worked together as one, they could accomplish great things. When the boy made it to high school, he continued to play trumpet in one of the greatest marching bands in the southeast.

The boy and his friends loved to make goofy videos, so it was no surprise when he decided to go into the movie and television business. He went to college and studied to become a sound mixer. While in college, he met a beautiful princess and four years later they were married.

The boy became a man, spending years working behind the scenes on movies and TV shows, again being part of talented teams that together could do amazing things. The man and the princess had a son of their own, and it was the greatest day in the man’s life. As his son grew and started to read books, the man decided he wanted to write stories his son could enjoy. Having been surrounded by the entertainment business his entire life, the man discovered he really enjoyed writing books.

The man currently lives in Orlando, Florida and is happy every time someone reads one of his books. He continues to work on movies, TV shows, and his books in hopes that he can help entertain all the people in the kingdom.

Trip, Sarah and Josh are on an adventure that takes them from Florida to Pennsylvania, Virginia & Washington DC as they search for The Hummingbirds of Love. Along the way the team and the reader learn a bit of American history too.

This is the 3rd and final book of the Trip Montgomery series by Scott Clements. I've enjoyed all of Scott's books but this one is my favorite so far. Written for young adults but enjoyable for kids of all ages. This book takes you on a journey from start to finish.

It took me a LOOOONG time to read this book, but I enjoyed every word of it... Why did it take me so long to read it? because I had to write the words before I could read them. Surprise, surprise, I give all the books I write 5 stars :-)

p.s. Is it wrong for me to review my own books? Oh well...

The Protector of Peace is the final book in the Trip Montgomery series about the Triumvirate, a trio of diamond figurines rumored to give the individual that holds them immense power. The tension rises to a whole new level as the teens are frequently only a few steps ahead of the Destroyer. Trip frequently struggles with how to make the best decisions for everyone involved while still doubting that he is the best choice for Protector. This is certainly the most dramatic and exciting book of the series, and Mr. Clements has done an excellent job of building the story from beginning to end in a fluid and coherent arc.

Yet again, historical places and people are painted in a way that makes them real and relevant - and certainly makes me want to check out more than a few of them for myself!

Notes to parents/teachers/etc: Per usual, no foul language, no sexual content, completely age-appropriate and fun, adventure-filled material (one of the things I like best about Mr. Clements books). Spriritual/fantastic content that you may or may not be comfortable with based on your personal beliefs. Some slightly violent content toward the end but nothing graphic or gory.

I highly recommend this series for middle-grade readers and anyone else who enjoys a good treasure hunt!

*I was provided with a free copy of the book in exchange for my honest review, but I would have wanted to finish reading this series whether the book had been provided free of charge or not.

Got this book free to write a review. This is the first book by this author. I am currently trying to catch up with the characters. More as my reading progresses.
I received this book for free for an honest review.
Let me just say that I have not yet read the first 2 books.
That being said I will read them when I find them.
The book was very interesting and history was woven into the story in a very fascinating way. You learn many fascinating things about our forefathers and our country. The author wove them into the story without overpowering you with details. Each let to a clue and kept you guessing right along with the characters. Trip, Sarah, and Josh were teens out on an adventure to save the world from the bad guys. Many trips to places filled with history and how it has shaped our country. I especially enjoyed the Epilogue. Great possibilities ahead. Don;t want to give away the book but it was truly enjoyable to read for all ages. A history lesson without being boring. If I were a teacher I would recommend it to my American History class as a must read.

A great ending to a great series. The story was exciting and moved along. I really enjoyed the historical tie-ins that were throughout the book. The series wraps-up nicely and left me with a very happy feeling. I've read many books that left me almost sad, but was smiling at the end of the book.

The Protector of Peace, Book 3 of the Trip Montgomery series is a science fiction adventure by Scott Clements. Thirteen-year-old Trip Montgomery is chosen by supernatural forces to be The Protector of Peace. His sole mission is to find and guard the Triumvirate from its feared enemy, The Destroyer. The Triumvirate is a three-part contraption made from diamonds and its purpose is to unite humanity with peace and prosperity. If The Destroyer, who survives by inhabiting weak human bodies, possesses the Triumvirate, he will create worldwide devastation. Trip and his friends embark on a cryptic trail of clues left by the Founding Fathers of the United States to locate the third missing piece, The Hummingbirds of Love. Recovering the Triumvirate is not an easy task since The Destroyer uses numerous host bodies to disguise and deceive Trip, whom he also intends to eliminate.

I enjoyed reading The Protector of Peace, which has noteworthy historical facts woven into a suspenseful, action-filled plot. Several scenes reminded me of the movie National Treasure but this story has kids as its main characters. Scott Clements' writing is clear and precise and he puts his thoughts into words very well. Trip’s character is rather complex as he doubts his abilities as Protector and it shows. Trip and his friends are so unlike in personalities and temperaments, but that made the story amusing. This is the third book in the Trip Montgomery series and it is a great conclusion to Books 1 and 2 by Scott Clements.

Clements finishes trilogy with brilliance!

Scott Clements writes another great adventure for Trip, Sarah and Josh! Dynamic characters mix with real-world problems as this young trio works together to protect the world from the evil of the Destroyer. This book (and the entire series) is a great read for middle schoolers all the way to grownup readers. It is a favorite with my students and a favorite of mine.
