Collection of Poems: Miroslav Válek

Rate this book
This collection of poems is a translation from Slovak language which is arguably one of the least translated from. Poems were written by Miroslav Válek – a controversial poet of the communistic era in Czechoslovak history. The author is famous in Slovakia for lovelorn poems but that would be a short textbook definition. Under this cliché veneer one can discover a real poet struggling with the 20th century angst. Translators are native Slovaks living in the UK.

Beautiful poetry, exquisite poetic devices. Love, hate, relationship, passion.....all of those in poems which give you goosebumps or even make you well up. Reading them again and again and again...
