Another good book by Hiroyuki Itsuki, though I don't know how much I buy everything they talk about qi. Did make me want to start yoga, though. The prayer experiment they mention was mentioned by Dennett in his Breaking the Spell and I thought it suggested prayer was ineffective in helping someone get better, but I need to check.
Notes: Imagining the outcome in the past tense: 「ただひたすら『私はベテランで安全運転の運転手さんに、身をまかせ、無事、早く目的地に着くことができました」と心のなかで念じるのです。
Suriashi (the ancient martial artist Yoshinori Kouno's idea) and Nanba running style: right foot out, right hand out. (p.140). Supposed to be how people before the Edo period walked in Japan.
Breathing in from the right nostril, then out from the left (p.176): press down on the left nostril with your right pinky and wedding fingers and breathe quietly in from the right nostril, then let your fingers go and with your right thumb press down on your right nostril and slowly and quietly breathe out from the left. Ideally the exhalation is twice as long as the inhalation. Do it 5-6 times.
Flexibility and strength (pp. 201-202): flexibility in accepting whatever happens.
