Brides of New Haven #3

Mail Order Bride Catherine

Rate this book
New Haven, Connecticut - 1865

Two of Catherine Stuart’s three friends have already left New Haven to find love and adventure as mail order brides out west. Young Catherine has found love, too, and she is eager to go out west to Nebraska to meet her betrothed. But have his letters truly prepared her for the man she has yet to meet?

Laura, the only friend of their quartet remaining in town suggests not, but Catherine is too excited to listen to reason. An exciting life is waiting for her, and she cannot be bothered to wait.

She finds that her friend had a woman’s intuition not to be ignored, but is it too late? If she walks away, will she ever find love again? Catherine doesn’t know for certain, but her heart craves something that only the west can give her--and she can no longer wait for it to find her.

***This is the third book of the Brides Of New Haven series. Each book within the series is a STANDALONE story and may be read without having read the other stories first.

I'm not sure if it was just my Kindle copy, but this book actually is a compilation of 27 short mail order bride stories. The formatting is terrible, with too much space belween lines. The writing is quite poor and anachronistic. The stories are so short with almost no development. This was a dnf for me.

A very short book

This is a very short less than an hour book that I enjoyed. A young girl goes west to marry a man who sends the best letters. However what she finds isn’t what she expects. Good characters and it’s simple enough plot.

Sweet

What a short and sweet story of the perils of being a mail order bride. I liked how it gave you a clear vision of how northern gals of the Civil war era survived.

This story was a novella, set in the good ole days when people were traveling West in search of goal and a brighter future. Yes, things might have been hard for some, as they picked up everything they owned in order to seek out a different life; however, the prospect of making something better for their families and future family was to urgent not to make the decision to move.
