Sarelle’s return to her loved ones brings a brief measure of solace, even as she mourns all that changed in her absence. Rene’s presence and Sar’s pact with Shaker add as much tension as comfort, as the delicate balance of Sar’s life threatens to collapse under the weight of all she endured as Michael’s prisoner. Determined to reclaim her life, Sar fights back, inadvertently sparking Danial’s memory as an unseen ancient enemy prepares to strike a fatal blow.

*** I have been given a copy for an honest review. ***
This is the fifteenth book of the series, and if you’ve gone along for the ride as I have, you are probably wondering what Sar and friends have been up to. In the last book, Sar had been kidnapped by another vampire who wanted her to have his child. After her escape, and now bonded with the demon Shaker, she returns home to find things have gone on without her. An adjustment period is needed. I feel there was a lot of relationship rebuilding in this book. I would have like to have seen Sarelle extend more of a hand to her children and old friend, Serena. But that’s not really what this series is about. If you can get past the fact that Sarelle has three lovers-2 vampires and a weresnake-read the book as it’s meant to be read. It’s full of vampires, wereanimals, faeries, and demons all going about their day to day business with human Sar caught in the middle. One storyline that seemed important to the characters but confusing to me was the person who was killed and they all mourned for. Until they went to the funeral and more clues were given, I didn’t remember this character. His death came out of nowhere. After so many books, I can see why this happened, but I wish he had been given a storyline in this book before his death so I could relate more. There is one more book in the series, and I can’t wait to find out who Sarelle finally ends up with. She’s been caught between so many lovers for so many books, it’s hard to predict. I have my choice, but have a feeling I’m wrong, but can’t wait to find out. ***This book contains graphic sexual content.
