I'm sure this book would be much more interesting if I had actually visited the castle. However, it is a good solid retelling of ancient tales.

"In one way history is the tale of those who consider themselves important, the kings, queens, prelates and the rich who swarm around them..in the most modern of cities, stories live on because people tell them to their children and their friends as they always have and as they always wil"
the story of the Edinburgh castle is very much the story of Scotland, this book tells the story of the castle not only through the history but also through legend, stories told down generations which have become part of Scotland's Identity.
