1. This book has not received any awards.
2. I think this books is appropriate for preschool, kindergarten, and first grade.
3. In this book, the old woman who lives in a shoe has many, many children living with her. It takes the reader on a trip through their long weekly schedule. At the end the author challenges the reader by asking if he or she remembers all of the things the children and old woman did that week.
4. I like that Kate Toms took the original story and made it her own rendition. I love the artwork in the book; I think, like the interpretation of the nursery rhyme, it is very creative and memorable. I enjoyed reading what the family did together through out the week.
5. I would use this book to talk about routines and schedules. I would have children write down things they do during the week, and then have them share the following week. Another activity I would do, is have the children draw pictures of their dream homes, like the old woman who lives in the shoe. I would have the students share why that is their dream home.

This book rhymes so that kids are able to guess or make inferences as to what may happen next.
