I read this book when I was 21 (36 years ago) and completely confused and clueless about what to do after college. My pop said, "I'd go into business if I were you" and I thought, "Sure, why not...Umm, what happens in business?" This book did a great job of explaining the basic roles and activities in various functional areas and the skills that are required. After reading it, I literally chose my career direction and stayed on that path for 15 years. I found the book so helpful that I found the author (he's a professor) and left him a voice mail message thanking him for writing the book and letting him know how influential it was in my early career decisions.
