The Color of Love

Rate this book
Bartending at The Spot in Los Angeles was a temporary gig for starving artist Daisy. Whether that meant catching her big break or burning the place down, she was determined to color the world wıth her paintings. Arson seemed like the less likely of the two when she learned that a frequent patron, Mike, was an agent with top-shelf connections in the art world.

Steppıng out of her comfort zone, she agrees to meet with him at a concert. On the night of the concert, Daisy greets Mike with an unexpected surprise. He knew that she was bringing someone, but he never expected this. What was more surprising was the implications after the confusion was cleared.

With his ego crushed, Mike agrees with his friends an almost impossible wager to prove that he hasn’t lost his touch: take Daisy to bed in exchange for hefty penalties for each individual.

With aspirations of opening her first art gala with a bang, Daisy, unsuspecting of the bet, plays into Mike’s suave advances. She spends personal time with him, they become business partners, and she even meets his mother all in the name of career advancement.

But little do they both know that their ulterior motives will bring them closer together in ways they never anticipated. The consequences ultimately test Daisy’s integrity, relationships, and life as she searches for who she really is.

This is my first read by Ty Mitchell. I liked the book. Mitchell brings us a funny and poignant tale of Daisy a struggling artist and Mike - an up and coming talent broker. Mike takes a bet to see if he can bed the fair Daisy.

I have to admit that I had a bit of a hard time getting started. Daisy and Mike playing around each other was making me a bit batty. On their first supposed date - Daisy brings her girlfriend with her, and thinking that she is her besty and not her partner is Mike's first mistake. The two enter a business relationship and become friends. This is their story one of self discovery, learning to be true to yourself.

The writing is lovely and you can feel emotions and perhaps even get a little education on homosexuality and becoming your own self for your own reasons. I laughed, I cried, and yes - I was a bit disappointed at the ending. But, on the same hand it may be the way some of the relationships told in the story end or begin.

I am an independent reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock.

Really?

This was good read. It has laugh out loud humor, OMG moments and I wanted to slap and then hug the characters in the story. I wanted to give it 5 stars but I did not like the end.

Book Review originally published here: http://www.iheartreading.net/book-tou...

In The Color of Love, Daisy is a struggling artist working as a bartender. She’s willing to do whatever it takes to get her work noticed, and cozying up to Mike, an agent with strong connections in the art work, seems like the perfect plan of action. Mike too has ulterior motives when he tries to seduce Daisy – but neither of them expected to feel something real.

Daisy and Mike are both realistic characters, but I found it easiest to connect to Daisy. I know how tough it is for artists to find the right connections and get their work noticed.

I’m glad the characters grew and changed a lot throughout the book. They needed some growing up, and some maturing, especially when it comes to romance and love. The plot was engaging, and the writing style was fluent and fast-paced.

A great read, the main characters in this book are Daisy and Mike. Daisy is an artist struggling to make a name for herself and doing bar work to earn some money in the meantime. Mike in the meantime is an agent with connections. Whilst drinking in The Spot where Daisy works, he accepts a bet with his friends that he will bed her but no time limit is to be set. Daisy realises that with Mike's help, she will be able to get noticed in the art world. They soon realise that they actually feel something for each other but there are obstacles in the way. Daisy is already in a relationship and ultimately has to decide what path she should follow. This book was funny in parts with some laugh out loud moments but also had some serious moments in it when dealing with family and relationship issues. Looking forward to reading the next book Ty writes.

I was super excited to win this book because it sounded like the kind of thing I normally really love, and I wasn't disappointed. It was a really fun, light hearted, fast paced love story about Daisy and Mike, an artist trying to make it, and an agent for top shelf artists. After a misunderstanding at a concert, Mike makes a bet with his friends regarding Daisy. It's a little bit similar to the movie "She's All That", but it's a fun story and an easy read. I'd recommend it.

Uumph

This story took readers in so many directions that it was a challenge to stay focused. A lesbian couple had been together for two years, when one of the ladies had an affair with a man. She still lived with her partner, and fooled around with the man. She also claims to love them both. After getting pregnant the choice was still not predictable in the end. Uumph!

This is the first book I have read by Ty Mitchell. This book went in so many directions that it was a hard for me to stay focused. I did find some of this book funny but at times I wanted to reach through my kindle and slap someone. This is a fast paced read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Obviously I'm not going to go on and on about how amazing my book is (even though I believe in my heart it is). Instead I wanted to take this opportunity to briefly give my inspiration behind it.

The Color of Love was a screenplay I wrote some years back originally named The Shape of Love. It was loosely based off an experience I had in the past, but the story itself has grown into something I've never imagined it to be over the past few years. The motivation behind the novel was about following my dreams, my way and in a year and a half my goal was sitting right in my hand. I want to inspire people to live out their dreams and change the world. And when I say change the world I don't necessarily mean on a global scale. I mean my own world. My family's world. And the people I have direct contact with. Anybody else who gets touch by my book is just icing on a whole different cake.

So I hope you give The Color of Love a chance. I promise that it's like nothing you've ever read before. And if you do give it a chance please let me know what you think about it here on Goodreads whether it's good, bad, or indifferent. I learn through my readers. Thank you all and happy reading.

*I received this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.*

This book started alright but just got worse and worse for me until I was uncertain whether or not I could finish it. There was cheating, racial slurs, homophobic comments... the characters are annoying and selfish, not to say with no dignity or self-respect, some of them are cliché stereotypes that you cannot relate to at all.

The premise is all about a guy who turns a lesbian girl "straight" for him as if it is a switch that can be turned on or off, not once is the possibility of a bisexual character discussed and it just enrages me that such a book could be written, especially in our context where the LGBTQ community is fighting everyday for their basic rights, recognition and representation. This is an insulting book, at least to my eyes.

The ending is as anticlimactic as it gets, not to say pathetic for Mike and Alex who just accept the shit Daisy throws their way and gallantly let her choose when she is the last person that deserves it since she played them both... Ugh, I'm just so mad!

The one good thing I found in it was the dialogues (except when they went on full-bigot mode) because they felt natural and the way people talk in real life when hanging out with their longtime friends but other than that, this books is just a big no for me.

I liked the premise of this book and the first few chapters, however I was soon disappointed. Not only was their cheating, lying, inappropriate behaviour and name-calling, but I feel like the ending was incomplete and rushed. The whole situation the main character found herself in could have easily been avoided and by the end I didn't like any of the characters mostly due to their lack of morals. Overall, this was a disappointing read mostly due to the annoying characters who lacked morals and the cheating main characters.

Book was not what I expected based on the synopsis. Because of this I was a little disappointed in the overall plot and ending of the book.
