Black, Blue, & Purple Pain

Rate this book
There's a black and blue person out there right now, in pain from the physical violence they suffered from the one they trusted. Their bruises will begin to fade to purple . . . then yellow . . . and eventually will disappear. Their fear will outlast the pain. Their broken bones and will mend, but only physically.

There's a wounded heart out there. Someone who put faith in another human being, only to have it stripped away and shattered. Words thrown at them that they'll never forget. Mental disturbances which will replay over again for the rest of their existence. Nothing can erase the pain of this, nothing can take away the destruction it causes. Their emotional state becomes broken with no promise of healing.

ABUSE.

It shows its ugliness in many forms. Some you can see. Some hide in the shadows and behind closed doors. Some show no signs at all.

Sixteen powerful stories from sixteen incredibly talented authors, plus an exclusive excerpt, joined together to raise awareness and bring hope to those who need it the most.

This collection is released to bring better awareness of abuse of all kinds - emotional, physical, sexual. The subject matter is dark but these stories are told in the perspective of the victim. They show the journey each victim must go through from the first instance & how difficult it is to not allow it to break you. The emotions & intensity are powerful & the writing is excellent. I cried, wept & sobbed my way through several of the stories. Keep a Kleenex handy. We all have a story of someone we know or know of that has gone through some measure of abuse. This collection strives to help you understand a victims mind & conditioning & how difficult it is for them to take a stand & leave. Public image is an especially powerful tool the abusers can use to keep the victims suppressed, especially with men. This is not meant to be sexist but the hardest thing a man can do in society is to admit he's been abused by a woman. Unfortunately, it isn't as uncommon as people want to think. Do not try to sit & read these all at once. You need to absorb each one & the lessons they each teach us. This is a powerful collection of stories that people need to read!

I was given an ARC by one of the authors in exchange for an honest opinion.

This is a really well written story and I very much enjoyed it. You don't hear about many of these situations where the roles are reversed in terms of domestic abuse. I enjoyed how the author had me convinced of who the abuser was but then threw a curve ball, and I also loved the author's writing style in journal fashion. This is definitely a good read!

Fantastic collection for a great cause

I bought this book solely for where the proceeds were going. But when I finally got around to reading this collection, I found that each of these authors has a very intense way of bringing out all the feels. Some of the stories horrified me and others made me want to curl up and cry or hug my children as right as possible

This anthology is very dear to my heart. I am so thankful to all the authors who participated in this. Awareness is a big part of a solution and funds is another. I purchased this to help a cause but I read it because it's a really good mixture of stories that will send you on an emotional roller coaster. I have lived some of these stories and the authors have given victims a voice with this anthology. Please give this one a try. If you are a survivor and it's too much for you, think about gifting it to someone you want to have a clearer understanding of domestic violence.

This was one Book that is a must read. All the stories on here are emotional and speak of the abuse suffered emotionally and physically by women, children, and men. All of the authors here share such different but gripping stories. I was so happy to take part in this Anthology in which all proceeds goes towards Domestic Violence Awareness! I hope you will take the time to read it!
