Hope Street
Hope Street may be just an ordinary terraced street in Leeds, but it's the whole world to Maggie Fish. When her father returns home from the war the whole family looks foward to happier times, but Maggie's mother dies in childbirth leaving Johnnie Fish a bitter widower, resentful of his baby son. By contrast Maggie can do no wrong and Johnnie encourages her to sing at the Working Men's Club. With the help of talented pianist Charlie Chipperfield, a new vaudeville act - Fish and Chipperfield - is born, and Maggie sets out on the road to fame and fortune.

A feel good read at the end of it. The book showcases Maggie's (the protagonist) life. The up's and downs, the unimagined, the shocks and all's well that ends well. Beautifully portrayed the relationship of father with her daughter, husband with his wife, mother with her son and lovely naughty neighbour Vera.

CAPTIVATING.
Ken McCoy has done it again. Yet another captivating read. Really gritty in places and very down to earth. Love Ken McCoy' s writing. One of the best male author's. I put him up there at the top along with the late great Catherine Cookson. Long may he keep writing
