the life story of George Thomas. I was expecting more to he honest, I can't see why this book was written as a hero of the cross. George was a Christian and preached in the Methodist church but this is more of a story of rags to riches. How someone so poor became a speaker at the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diane. A good biography but not really a Christian story.
It's not entirely clear why George Thomas is a "Hero of the Cross", although Swift's short (and apparently derivative) biography paints a picture of a congenial and witty Christian who rose from extreme poverty through talent and hard work.
Although well-written, the work gives no clue as to why, in the years following the book's publication, he would throw in his lot with Lord Goldsmith or why, following his death in 1997, Nigel Jenkins felt the need to pen an abusive "eulogy".
