Falling for your boss is never a good idea-especially if he's emotionally unavailable...
Kyra Wilson is an average woman with a typical job. Her boss, on the other hand, is anything but average. Paul Connors is handsome, wealthy, and has massive sex appeal to boot. After some mutual flirtation, Kyra makes a move to change their work relationship to something more.
All goes as planned, until Paul makes his stance on relationships clear...
After a few hot encounters between the sheets, Kyra is ready to take it to the next level. But Paul refuses to commit-and won't say why. Settling on 'friends with benefits, ' Kyra is happy to make the most of Paul's body in the hope she can change his mind.
But when a handsome stranger comes along, Kyra is swept off her feet...
Kyra meets her best friend's soon to be brother-in-law, Scott Adams. Tall, dark, handsome-and monogamous-he is everything she wants, and more. Engulfed with the desire to settle down, Kyra falls fast and hard. Still, she struggles to cast aside her lust for Paul so she can completely focus on her future with Scott.
As always, nothing is as perfect as it seems...
When wicked secrets are exposed, Kyra dangles between the two men. With her future on the line, Kyra closes the door on her past and accepts Scott's invitation to live together.
It doesn't take long for a trio of tragedies to leave Kyra clutching onto her sanity, and relying on the one person she only ever dreamed of...
I'd love to say that writing has always been in my blood and I owe my strange imagination to a relative I barely knew, but as far as I know, I'm a one of a kind from my family (in more ways than one!!)
So what do I love to write about? Well, whatever takes my fancy to be quite honest. I'm not one to write for the market - I write for myself, what comes from the voices, sorry - muses, in my head, and what I think are unique twists in this repetitive world.
As a result, you can find me scattered across genres from steamy romance to dark fantasy and horror. My only hesitance at the moment is sci-fi but I'm sure I'll tackle it some day!
Conspiracy theories, the supernatural, and the darker side of human nature fascinate me. I adore mythology and ancient history too, and also (only when I'm feeling intellectual) tend to dip my toes into quantum physics to better understand theories of the supposed impossible.
Kyra is a PA for a number of directors at a company. She has been having naughty sexual thoughts and daydreams about one of her bosses in particular. Paul is a very sexy, handsome man who up until now has shown no interest in Kyra whatsoever. Flirting turns into secret kisses, then dates that lead to some very sexy intimate experiences. Both Kyra and Paul say they are not looking for anything permanent or committed, but Kyra expects that they won’t be seeing or having sex with any others while they are seeing each other. A night at a club, startling revelations about Paul’s past and his family business, and Kyra’s shock cause trouble between them and leads to her seeking out the company of another man. Paul’s hot and cold attitude leaves Kyra confused, but when she is betrayed by the new boyfriend, he is around to help her deal with the betrayal. As it turns out, their feelings for each other can’t be denied and they each make changes in their lives in order to be together. The deviant sex scene is not something I am comfortable with, so my rating is two and a half stars.

I really wanted to like this book. I love the publishing company and they usually put out quality books, but this one was just okay. The plot was developed, I didn't realize until a third of the way through that they were supposed to be British. Follow bad attempt at accents occasionally. Personally I was disappointed with such a pathetic Heroine. Then mad as all get out with her brother. Don't get me started on her Greek God, who isn't Greek btw, he is just an entitled brat with the emotional range of a rock. I wanted to like the book. If the author hadn't wrapped it all so quickly and maybe left out the sort of love triangle it would have been a great book. It's worth a read if you're bored and looking for something steamy for a minute. Quick read for a lunch break boredom.
I think I would have liked this book more if I liked Kyra. She got on my nerves for the majority of the book. She kept getting her hopes up where Paul is concerned but then gets them crushed time and time again. Parts of the book were predictable but there were a couple of surprises. I think that maybe if it would have had Paul's pov it might have made it better but I could never warm up to Kyra.
I just couldn't get passed the poor writing. First of all there is a difference between passed and past and this author seems to be unsure which is which. Secondly, I struggled with all of the British references for things taking place in the U.S. For example, Tim's American wife died and left millions of pounds to him and not her children. It would have been better if the entire book and its characters were from England. I also struggled with Ours and Paul's workplace. So much of the story takes place there, but its not fleshed out enough to understand. Overall, too many issues and not enough good to counterbalance for me.
She has fallen for her boss and they have a sexual relationship but she wants more but he tells her no but no reason why. She gets swept off her feet by a single danger and soon head over heels for them. Problems will happen and she may have to rely on the one she had always dreamt of. What will happen? How will it all end? See what will

Kyra is feisty and knows what she wants, but does she? Paul is her boss...
Well, yes, there are sex scenes, but to be expected in this type of romance novel, however, there was more to the story and it did highlight the trouble with relationships and those tangled emotions, too. What is the difference between want and need?
Lots of passion and heartbreak in this story. Kyra wants a future with Scott but needs the passion she shares with Paul. When it comes down to the crunch, who will stand by Kyra in her time of need?

Intense! This book kept me up all night reading just to see what would happen next. Kyra has been fantasizing about her boss Paul for a while. Paul and Kyra both give in to temptation and begin an affair. This book had so many twists and turns and sordid secrets that you won't be able to put it down. This book definitely had it all-drama, suspense, betrayal and plenty of steam. 5 stars!
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. I really enjoyed reading this book from C. J. Laurence. It’s a really well written book with a great, interesting storyline and the engaging characters have great chemistry and interaction that pulled me into their story. This is an Entertaining, Must Read Romance that I really loved reading from beginning to end
This is not my normal romance book. This one carries quite a bit of twists and turns with a roller coaster of emotions thrown in for good measure. Characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly from page to page.

Paul is Kyra's new boss and they are having a passionate affair which is what they both want until it is not. Kyra is beginning to want to whole package family with the white picket fence and in walks Scott wants the same things she wants. Now Kyra must decide if she can stay with Paul or go with Scott.

Good storyline reflecting title Want and Need. There is the difference between and this couple take the journey to figure out what is going to be. Interesting concept in this steamy romance.

I enjoyed Paul & Kyra's story. It was an intriguing book that had my emotions going everywhere. Good characters. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via booksprout.
This is going to be a relatively short review and this is because I just had one problem with the book. One problem which lead to many many problems. Said problem is that I truly did not like the ending of the book.
I honestly felt like the author wanted to create more drama to keep the momentum going and make the book more enticing but doing so only made the ending really messy and made the plot lose focus on what really matters which was the relationship between Kyra and Paul and how were they going to resolve the complications in their relationship to truly be together. I felt like the author didn’t know how to address the solution to the problem in said relationship and thus made a new drama for the reader to be distracted by because towards the end when Paul finally confronted the person causing these problems/complications it ended very anticlimactically.
Like, once said person and Paul talked it out it was all okay and everything is fine and dandy and I as the reader start to think really? I read all those pages of which Paul and Kyra cannot be together because of said complication and said complication can be resolved within 3 pages had Paul just had some balls and actually talked it out with said person? Do you know how annoying that is especially after reading the inappropriately added sub-plot? I was so hoping that the complication would at least be resolved in a bombastic manner to make up for the sub-plot fiasco but alas I was left severely disappointed and to think had the ending not been messy and all over the place I was going to give this book a 5 rating.
Nonetheless, the first half of the book is a great read and I loved how Ash (Kyra’s brother) is gay and how his relationship with Ben is portrayed as nothing but normal.
You know what if the sub-plot ending really had to be put into the book at least put it in the second one so all the emotional upheaval and trauma can be truly explained into detail to let the reader really feel and empathize with the main character so at least the reader aka ME won’t feel like towards the end it was just a whole dump of unnecessary drama which I might add did not do any justice to the earlier plot lines.
Okay, after saying all that I must say that this has not in the slightest deterred me from reading more by the author because hey I liked the first half of the book who knows maybe in other works I will actually like the whole book.

The book “Want & Need” by C. J. Laurence made my emotions confused, my heart swell with warmth, and even got me so excited about the ending, I couldn’t put it down all day—which happens rather rarely.
The story is about a woman, Kyra, who starts having a sexual relationship with her boss who is 100% against commitment. The two of them seemed to get up to a lot of naughty things in the office and outside. It was going great until she realised that wanted to get her happily ever after, something he said he couldn’t give her. I won’t get into any more details here because it would spoil the fun for the rest of you.
Claire managed to keep me enthralled throughout the whole book. There were no parts too boring, just enough conversation and action to make a perfect ensemble. Emotions in the characters ran high along with plenty of tension and excitement in the plot. She even managed to pull one on me with her mystery skills. Good one, Miss Laurence.
Overall, I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed myself and almost forgot I was sick. It’s a great read for any romance reader who likes their plot well-cooked along with plenty of steamy scenes for dessert.
I have just finished reading 'Want & Need' by CJ Laurence and here is my review.
The story revolves around Kyra, a headstrong and flighty thirty year old who doesn't want to settle down. But then she meets her boss Paul, a commitment phobic hunk who, it seems, is as lost as Kyra when it comes to knowing what's inside his heart. The pair embark on a lust fuelled affair before overcoming a series of (at times horrific) obstacles.
This book is highly addictive and compelling. There are a multitude of twists that the reader will not see coming. When I started I thought it might follow in the same vein as the Beautiful series by Christina Lauren, but it went down a completely different path and often left me speechless. I would recommend the book to anyone who enjoys an unpredictable adventure. Unlike the cover suggests, the story is not erotica but a multi-faceted and at times dark tale, of family strife, human error and personal growth.
