Of all the creatures that stalk the night, none has captured the imagination quite like the Vampire. These days, in popular culture it is almost impossible to read, watch or hear any supernatural tale that does not involve the undead. Particularly in our modern day society the Vampire is held with somewhat high regard; a conflicting mix of fear and wonder, lust and longing.
The main issue I had with this book was its language use; the sentences felt awkward at times, there were words missing or incorrect prepositions used and the language itself was far from what I personally expect from non-fiction (or academic) writing. I also believe that the sources listed at the end of the book were insufficient as they mostly consisted of websites. What is more, no sources were used in the actual text, and so the whole book was presented as either a pioneering work (which I can assure you, it is not) or a work full of assumptions (whereas I was interested in factual and provable matters) with a list of sources at the very end which did not actually tell me much.
On the bright side of things, the book did provide me with a general outline/framework of the topic presented, around which I can now build.
