Living in Klamath Falls, I’ve heard bits about the Modoc war, and regularly visit the Lava Beds in Northern California, and have been to Captain Jack’s grave at Ft. Klamath. But the white history is skewed, and not in favor of what really happened. This book was well written as a novel, and excellent in terms of the historical accuracy. This perspective should be more widely distributed and the real history of Native Americans known and understood.

Quite interesting, however, not an easy read considering the Native American vocabulary and the extensive cast of characters.
