Dominant Encounters: Three

Rate this book
As the weeks and months go by, Daniel intensifies Clara’s training regime, testing and pushing her limits in order to provide her with the experiences she needs to make an informed decision about her future choice of Dominant, still determined that it can never be him.
But with his feelings for Clara also intensifying, he is finding it increasingly difficult to maintain the emotional distance that he strives for, while Clara begins to hope that there may be a future for them after all, despite several warnings to the contrary, from both the man she is beginning to fall for, and from others who know him.
Detecting the darkness that holds him prisoner, Clara becomes ever more inquisitive in her need to know what has happened in Daniel’s past, in order to truly know the man who is adamant that she can never have a place in his life.
Faced, not only with present demands, but with a tangle of past deeds, the far-reaching tendrils of which ensnare them and pull them in different directions, Clara and Daniel find themselves struggling against inner conflicts that conspire to deny them the love and happiness they seek

Can Daniel overcome his demons to be what Clara needs?
Will the shadows that haunt him ever allow him to find his peace?
Will Clara break or bend as Daniel tests her submission to the limit?
Will she find the answers she seeks, and the key to his heart, or will her quest see them both destroyed?

Dominant Encounters: three continues on from where Dominant Encounters:two left off, and is the final instalment in the trilogy.

J.R. James is a British author who writes modern romantic fiction with an erotic twist and contemporary themes, exploring the Dominant/submissive dynamic in male/female relationships with varying levels of involvement in a BDSM lifestyle.

Her writing career began in 2013 with the publication of her ‘Love by Design’ trilogy, inspired by the new and expanding genre of erotic fiction with romance firmly at its core, and the growing mainstream popularity of the type of love stories that she had long enjoyed.

Her fiction has been described as ‘character-led’, and she admits to falling in love with her heroes and heroines while they ‘live’ with her and she gets beneath their skin to examine their motivations, as they navigate the often difficult path of love in search of their ‘happy ever after’.

She currently has seventeen published titles with lots more ‘work in progress’ ideas stored up in her imagination (and on her computer), and a whole cast of characters vying for attention to be her next romantic leads.

When she is not writing about the hot alpha-males who make the women in her books go weak at the knees, she loves reading across a wide range of genres, though erotic romance is definitely her first choice, and she is never happier than when curled up with a good book, or at her keyboard creating one.

There is a whole lot going on in this last book of the series. It is a very intense read, which is why it took me so long to read it. Needed a break from all the emotions going through the characters and pouring into me!

Clara is still struggling to be completely submissive to her dominant Daniel. She is getting better, but her mouth continually gets her in trouble. When Daniel takes her away for a week, she thinks it's going to be a vacation. He tells her to bring just herself, he'll provide everything else she needs. When she tries to get one over on him, she soon suffers the consequences, which are quite funny. Clara soon finds that it's not a vacation, but a week away for more D/s training in the form of TPE--Total Power Exchange. That part was very interesting to see the amount of detail the author put into it.

I don't want to give away too much since it is a good read, but there are lots of ups and downs between Clara and Daniel in the form of their relationship and the contract. Clara knows she loves him, but refuses to admit anything, knowing she only has him for six months. But the extra things that happen between them confuse her to no end, and she's then not sure if her feelings are even true. Daniel is very stubborn in admitting his feelings. We also finally find out what happened to Daniel in his past to cause him to close off his heart and stick with six month subs. As the line between D/s and personal connections get blurred, will they be able to finally be what the other needs? Or will it all come to a cut and dry ending?

Definitely an emotional read like I said....keep the tissues handy! I really enjoyed this book and was very pleased with how the author wrapped up the series!!
