Ren Lewis was born with the power to control minds, hypnotize others, and read thoughts. Therefore he is certain of one thing.
God made a mistake. No one should be born with so much power.
Sherlock Holmes meets House for a combination that makes for a brilliant anti-hero.
Book 1: A monster awoke in Ren the same year he received his gifts. At ten years old. A prepubescent boy with the ability to control others might merely abuse this power, but Ren allowed it to corrupt him. And since he can have and do anything he wants, Ren should be happy. However, his journey teaches him that harboring so much power doesn't bring happiness, it steals it. Once this realization sets in, Ren makes up his mind to do the one thing that can bring his tortured soul some peace.
He must kill the monster.
Book 2: Ren Lewis has the life he’s always the perfect woman and the perfect job as an agent for the Lucidites, fixing problems before they happen.
And yet, he’s still miserable.
He blames the monster buried inside of him for his problems. But what this redheaded Brit doesn’t realize is his life is about to be intensely transformed. Problems that he never could have fathomed begin to surface one at a time until his life quickly spirals out of control.
Book 3: Irony wears a disingenuous smile.
Ren Lewis, who has faced every danger known to man, is about to meet a challenge he’s convinced has the power to undo him. When he discovers that his daughter, Adelaide, has been hiding a pregnancy he goes into hiding himself.
Having a daughter was one catastrophe Ren struggled with. But now, being expected to welcome her baby into his home is not something Ren knows how to assimilate into his life.

If you want a series about a man from a race of "humans" living among us with amazing powers unlike you have read about before- this is the series for you. You both love and hate the main character. You always learn about twists in his life even he wasnt expecting.
Ren: The Man Behind the Monster I'm completely hooked now. This is the first title by Noffke that I've read and it most definitely won't be the last. There's enough here that references other series that have intrigued me to the point that I want to read everything. Ren isn't the easiest character to like. He's been through some very hard things that have left him bitter and forced him to chose to be alone. The whole story is very true to his character which sometimes makes the emotions hard to get through. But the whole story is so compelling I can't wait to dig into the next one.n Behind the Monster Ren: God's Little Monster I enjoyed this, but I didn't really feel like it was a full and complete story in and of itself. Sure Ren solves some puzzles during the course of the book but all the problems he has at the beginning of the story are still there at the end. I couldn't pinpoint a specific story arc in this. By that, I mean that there's no satisfying resolution to a particular challenge. To me, it felt like this book's main function was to teach us more about Ren and introduce several new characters who will be important in future books. Which is all well and good, I guess I just wanted a little more out of it. Ren: The Monster Inside the Monster This man causes me the most profound stress while trying to decide whether I love him or hate him. He's sarcastic and bitter and downright cruel, but he's lived a life that's caused him to disconnect from his emotions in order to survive. So my options are to throttle him or hug him I just and can't make up my mind which would be the better choice. Ren undergoes some pretty extensive personal growth during this book. The two previous books hinted that something major was coming but I admit I wasn't expecting this. I consider it a prime example of the author's skills that she can give us such a thoroughly unlikable character that we love anyway. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
This box set includes the first three stories in Sarah Noffke’s Ren series of scifi/fantasy, which is part of her Dream Traveler universe. It’s an interesting world, and I always enjoy learning about different Dream Travelers and their abilities.
The characters in these stories are quite interesting, though seldom very likable. The main character, Ren, is a classic antihero: frequently cruel, vindictive, cowardly, and amoral. I normally dislike stories about antiheroes, but Ren is smart and irresistibly snarky, with just enough love and loyalty for those he cares about to give him a shot at redemption. It’s a compelling combination. Ren is so mean sometimes, I’m embarrassed to admit that he makes me laugh and I have developed a certain fondness for him.
The plots were interesting and kept me guessing. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense, but what kept me listening was the characterization and the humorous dialog. The women in Ren’s life offer him plenty of surprises. I would classify this series as a paranormal crime story and recommend it for people who enjoy character-driven urban fantasy.
I was captivated by Tim Campbell’s narration. His pacing was good and I enjoyed all of his character voices. The voice and British accent he uses for Ren is perfect for Ren’s snarky comments, and probably made the story more enjoyable for me than if I had read it myself. I definitely recommend the audiobook.
I purchased this ebook, but I was given a free copy of the individual audiobooks by the author and volunteered to provide an honest review.
This is the second series (I previously listened to the Olento Series) I’ve listened to by this author and I would definitely listen to another. I loved the insight into Ren and all the backstory that helped expand upon the Olento Series characters. His abilities are interesting and well thought out. I think Ren was shown to be a more compassionate and empathetic character, he just lacked the appropriate follow through or outward reaction. I really quite feel for the guy. Although several of the books in this set are distinct sections of Ren’s life, and could probably be read out of order, I think it’s best to follow the order as each book compliments the next. We are introduced to Ren’s daughter as well as his grandchild.
This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator (Tim Campbell) and I would listen to another. He did a fabulous job giving each character an individual voice and I think he brought out the nuances in Ren’s personality. I thoroughly enjoyed listening.
There are no explicit sex scenes or excessive violence. There is some swearing.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review
Ren Series Boxed Set (Ren #1-3) was a great read by Sarah Noffke. This box set consists of; The Man Behind the Monster, God's Little Monster, and The Monster Inside the Monster. The Man Behind the Monster (Ran #1) was a good read by Sarah Noffke. Ben Lewis was born with the power to control minds, read people's thoughts, and hypnotize others. Ben knows that no one should be born with so much power. At ten years old, he received his gifts and a monster awoke within him. He allowed the powers to corrupt him. Ben knows that in order to find some peace, he must kill the monster. God's Littler Monster (Ren #2) was a good read by Sarah Noffke. Ben has everything he's always wanted but still feels miserable. He blames this on the monster buried inside him. He doesn't know that his life is about to be intensely transformed. With all this change he finds out how flawed and vulnerable he is. The Monster Inside the Monster (Ren #3) was a good read by Sarah Noffke. Ren feels like this next challenge will be the thing that undo's him. He discovers his daughter is hiding that she's pregnant. He avoids family responsibility by throwing himself into his work.
For me, book one of this series felt off. I took a week to read just the first book, it didn’t grab my undivided attention. Once I got past it, I did appreciate Ren’s character enough to stay interested, book two was phenomenal! I loved all the struggles Ren has with himself whether he realizes the struggle or just decides that humanity burdens him needlessly. Now here’s the problem with a box set, I enjoyed the second book so much, I hardly recognized starting book three. They felt like just one excellent book and I had them both finished in 12 hours! I love where the author takes the story and the characters. It was great reading and now I want more of this world.
Ren may be a genius, but he is a stupid man at times. But his pompous attitude is what is most endearing, isn't it? Being honest about being an ass is the newest acceptance, isn't it? Maybe it's okay because he's British and everyone knows those men are snobs? The story was good , I had to finish it, but I did skip some pages because he did 'go on' about himself.

The REN trilogy is a truly amazing set of books. The evolution of the characters, the humour, heartbreak, intrigue and suspense will not let you put this captivating series down. This is a heart wrenching, hair pulling, breath taking trilogy. The twists and turns in the the plot, the growth and change in the characters and the roller coaster of emotions the author takes us on is simply mesmerizing. I am sad to say goodbye to Ren, as I have truly enjoyed this amazing character. His caustic wit, arrogance, dry sarcastic comments, brilliant mind and flawed personality has kept us laughing, made us want to strangle him, but has also caused our hearts to bleed. The amount of emotion that this character has been able to elicit from readers is a testament to how well written these books are and how fully developed this character is. We will mourn that we will no longer hear that snarky British accent as we get to read Sarah's words
This is my favorite Character ever written. I am slightly obsessed with all things Ren! He stole my heart in The Lucidites series with his snarky, arrogant, rough, straight to the point attitude! He is the most wonderful redheaded Britt to walk through literature! This tormented man with all his brilliance has many flaws and you will discover them all and then some in this set! I can not express how much I love these books! "I didn't sell my soul to the devil or dance with her on a clear night. I ran up to the devil and I stole the mask she wore and I've worn it comfortably for quite some time!" Ren
The first 3 amazingly snark filled Ren books all together at last! This is a dream come true. Ren the man, the mystery, the drama, the snark... We love him, we love to emulate his British "charm". But I digress... These first 3 Ren books are fantastic reads. They fill in so many of the blanks about our man of mystery and his wild adventures. Just grab it and devour, you won't be sorry. As usual Sarah Noffke has developed characters that are grab hold of you and pull you in quality and placed them into her fully developed Dream Traveller world which we continue to visit over and over again because we just cannot get enough of it.
Ren is extremely powerful and he uses it to his own advantage. He can "persuade" anyone to do anything that he wants, and of course, only if it helps Ren. Eventually, he may turn his rotten ways around. Does he? Sarah Noffke's writing makes Ren a very real person. He has ups and downs, feelings, thoughts, laughter, and as a reader, I experienced them with him. I felt them with him. That's wonderful writing. I enjoyed this story because you can visualize along with Ren. Do you hate him, or do you love him? I would definitely recommend reading Ren's story.
I have loved Ren since the first time I met him (in the Lucidites series) Sarah noffke tells brilliant and creative stories ... this series was different than the other two I've listened to ... and rightfully so, Ren is not a warm fuzzy character He is darker, sarcastic, a bit of an arse hole .... i love him! I recommend listening or reading the Lucidites and reverian series first ... it'll make this series more amazing. ... but be warned, REN'S series contains darker characters, corse language, adult situations, violence (not overly graphic but certainly there)
Ren has a lot of power, mind reading, hypnotizing and more. He feels that this just too much for one person. His goal is to get rid of the monster. You feel the need to keep reading through all three, just to see what happens. Amazing, fantasy that leaves you spellbound to the end. Loved each and every one. Ready for more
The Ren series is Amazing!!! I listened to the Audiobook version. Tim Campbell brings Ren and the supporting characters to life in such a wonderful way, I could listen to him speak forever! Ren is a very simple character who tries so hard to be complex. His humor is dry and he speaks directly and straight to the point with an air of arrogance that you will quickly learn to love. You want to hate him but you can't. The Author does a marvelous job of painting a world where these "dream travelers" exist that you can plainly see how it could be possible. Each book gives more information and has the perfect mix of missions that Ren is working on and his personal life so that you truly feel like you know this man and what his life entailed. I am very excited that the Author has chosen to write a few spin off series and am eager to dive into all of them.
