Very simple, quick read that is filled with lots of good information to get started understanding the tiles and get started. There is no strategy, but this book will get you acquainted with the different suits and how to set up a game. A goal of mine for 2026 is to learn to play Mah Jong, so I'm starting the year off with a few books on the subject.

If you want to learn how to play American Mah Jong I highly recommend this book. I enjoyed the full color, concise and straight to the point information. The illustrations make the material enjoyable to read. All the confusing aspects of the game are explained in a easy and fun way to learn. The table of content is a clear index to help you review any part of the game. The size of the book make it easy to carry with you while you are learning or if you need to teach your friends how to play.
