After months of preparations, the New Alliance is ready to reveal itself in a spectacular fashion. James Finch joins his comrades and exposes his true nature in front of the world media. He was prepared for some fall-out but finds himself in a bind when he is reunited with ‘the one that got away’.
When Charlie McAllister switches on the TV after a trying day working at the Edinburgh Herald, the last thing she expects to see is her former flame, James. As she watches him transform into a bear, she has two realizations. This must be why he dumped her so many years ago, and, finally she has a chance to bag a real story and make a name for herself.
Surely, with James’s true nature revealed, nothing stands in the way of their second chance at happiness, right? Wrong. You don’t just expose an ancient secret without rubbing a lot of folk the wrong way. Now, James and everyone close to him have targets on their backs.
*AUTHOR'S NOTE* This paranormal romance novella is the sixth and final installment of the Scottish Werebear series. For the best experience, readers are advised to read the series in order.
Lorelei Moone is an author of paranormal romance based in London. A lover of all things sweet and caffeinated, when she's not writing about sexy bear shifters and their strong-willed curvaceous love interests, Lorelei can be found baking cookies or cakes for her family.
She got her start writing bear shifters in the well received Scottish Werebear series (2015-2016), and its spin-off, Alpha Squad (2016-2017). To binge-read these today, make sure to buy the boxed set collections. Additionally, she's written of vampires in her Vampires of London series (2016-2017), and has just begun her foray into paranormal fantasy romance with the Shifters of Black Isle series (2018-2019).
Most of her titles are also available in print as well as audio, so you can enjoy them in your favourite format.
Lorelei also writes contemporary / erotic romance as L. Moone.
A second chance was one of the good ones in the series. James and Charlie were childhood friends that had shared a kiss when there were 18 and 17 years old. James had disappeared the next day. The build up was good but I couldn't imagine how the author was going to wrap this up in a little bit more than 2 hours. As it turned out the ending was satisfying and it was a great novella to finish this series with.
James and Charley/Charlotte. They were best friends in high school and shared a single hot kiss. Then the next day he and his family disappeared forever. Or so she thought. Ever since she has never felt desire for another man. But 10 years later there he is on TV shifting into a huge bear! So Charley who has been sad all this time is now pissed! She's a reporter and this could be her big break, cause she knows who one of the shifters really is. Honestly the holes in the plot just get bigger as the series goes on. Shifters revealing themselves all over the planet and nobody else could identify one??? But anyways, James has spent 10 years forgetting her and working hard for his cause. He might not have known when he was a teen that humans would also be effected by mating kisses, but he's bloody well known for a while and still had no plans to go find her. I found it hard to get past this.. But, when they finally admit their feelings (thankfully not at the damn end of the book this time), the story gets more interesting. More machinations of the SofD and Blacke. At the end of the story there's a short attachment of Kyle and Lily's story (from book3.5) that explains all. It's cute but kinda meh. So overall the series was fun, but had plot holes the size of a truck. How do bears get in and out of houses without busting down the doors? How do bears talk out loud in bear form? I just snickered every time they did that! In fact these bears do a lot of things in bear form that would need opposable thumbs.
Book: A Second Chance (Scottish Werebear #6) Author: Lorelei Moone Publication Date: 8/25/2016 Reviewed by: Tammy Payne- Book Nook Nuts My Rating: 5 Stars
REVIEW This book picks up where we were left in book 5. The shifters have come out and they are battling now yet again against The Alliance who Blacke runs. And The New Alliance is fighting back. It's all hands on deck for this one. James has a surprise encounter with someone from his past and he wants her more than ever. Will she have him? Can she be the help they all need? Charlie could never understand why James just up and moved one day after they had spent so much time together and were best friends. Can she forgive him?
I enjoyed this one as I have the previous books in this series. I would suggest you start with book one.
I was gifted this book for my honest review. Lorelei Moone
This one holds the end of this series with old school friends seeing each other for the first time in years. Things didn’t end very good for them after one kiss James leave with no good bye leaving Charlie feeling lost and alone not knowing why he left the way he did. It is time for the shifters to make a stand getting control of their lives back. Coming forward isn’t easy and leave so much open from their old boss to the The Sons of Domnall it seems everyone is out to get them. It was very interesting watching how humans took the news of shifters being around them. The question is can they live together in peace or will they be leaving on group of controlling to another one who wants to the same.
Charlie and James story is touching they have many issues they will have to overcome both seems to be hiding a secret from the other. They need time which they do not have a lot of with humans, The sons of Domnall and the old Alliance trying to get control. This was a very enjoyable read.
Mr. Blackthorne’s narration was very good with interesting character voices that blends well with the story. His male voices are just as good as his female’s one. You always know who is talking and what their emotions are. There is one place where he repeats a part which I am guessing is when he took a break Other than that the volume was very even throughout the audio. There are no background noises this is a very clear and clean audio. Mr. Blackthorne has a very nice voice his normal voice is just as great as his characters ones. I have to say for a man he does a very lovely female voice. His voice did pull me in making me feel comfortable and right at home. I had no trouble picturing each character and their emotions. The author does an outstanding job with the passionate scenes really giving the first night of love for each character true emotions. I haven’t had the pleasure of listening to his work before this box set but to look forward to listening to more of it.
• The New Alliance is Revealed Charlie a jr reporter who keeps getting stuck with meaningless articles, watches the news as the group that calls themselves The New Alliance revealed themselves to the world by shifting on live television. She recognized James the one who broke her heart when they were teens. Now she wants to find him to get closure as well as maybe a story, but nothing more. But even after all these years, his touch brings electricity through her and she cannot stop thinking of him. James a bear shifter has revealed himself along with the other New Alliance people around the world. Their purpose is still to stop Blacke from implementing his crazy plans of segregation between the shifter races. They're fighting not only The Sons of Domnall, but the Alliance with Blacke claiming he's the shifters leader. James now has a second chance with Charlotte (Charlie) after he thought leaving was his only option when they were teens, now he's not so sure. He's never forgotten her, and knows she's his mate. But will she not only forgive him, but give him a second chance? But he has work to do. They need to stop the endless cycle of violence and hate somehow. Who will the majority of the human population believe and side with? You'll have to read Scottish Werebear: A Second Chance to find out, but it'll be worth the time you take to read it! Each of these novellas are a quick read and could be read as a standalone HEA, but I recommend reading the complete series in order to get the little tidbits of background information on everything. I received an ARC copy via IndieSage in exchange for a blog tour review. Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 17 and older!
What a great end to a great set of books. What a way to start it off the book, but with the New Alliance. Now that all the dust has somewhat settled. The new leader James has taken over and they have decided to reveal themselves to the entire world. But there is one thing that he did not count on. That was Charlie seeing the whole thing. But now it all make since to her why he left the big secret he was keeping from her. Now she not only has a way to get in touch with him but may be able to get a scoop for her paper. What she did not plan on was his touch setting her of fire, and how she never truly got over him. But when you show a world full of people that what they thought was stories is real you never know what wakos will come out of the woodwork. And put a bull’s-eye not only James but those he loves.
Happens a few weeks after Henry's story and starts out with a group of New Alliance members in front of media cameras and they are about to reveal their secret. James Finch is doing this for someone he had to leave behind when he was 18, Charlotte aka Charlie. Since the old rules about bears mating with humans was a big no-no he left his mate behind. The reveal happens 10 years after he disappeared but when Charlie watches the only man she let into her heart change on national tv she knew that that was his reason to leave. Charlie will track James down to ask on question 'why' but will her reporting juices be flowing for more of the group of shifters then getting the whole truth from the man she'd loved...
If you have read one of the Scottish Werebears, this one will be a must have. The story continues to build and grow. The new dynamics at play. There are second chances given. Secrets revealed. Choices to be made. Truths that come out.
This story picks up behind the others. There was a logical sequence to events and time lines that makes this a perfect fit. Each new romance/mating builds upon the world that has been set to pages with the clash and reveal to the world what is really going on.
Moone has made the steps easy to follow and easy for you to fall for the romance of it all. If you have began the series keep moving along. If you have not and are looking for an engaging story that grows with each new add start at the beginning with book one of the Scottish Werebear series.
This was the final book in this series. This series has been consistent with it's theme for the series. It has also presented each book as it's own story and could be read as a stand alone. This story was a good conclusion to this series. I enjoyed reading about James and Charlie's story. Never give up hope and second chances. Kudos to Lorelei Moone on a great series. If you enjoy paranormal series, then you will love this. I received this book from IndieSagePR in exchange for an honest review.
An ARC was given to me for an honest review. They've gone through so many challenges including kidnappings, deaths and betrayals. Since they've decided to introduce themselves to the wold, maybe they can have a normal lives. Also James gets a second chance at love when a blast from the past appears in his and the Alliance's path. This is a nice finale. Enjoy I did.
Amazing! Lorelei did it again with another awesome book. I love the characters and the storylines was awesome. This is an second chance for James and Charlie. Was best friends in the past that might of been more. Can James and Charlie get passed everything that happened? I was so excited about everyone coming out to the humans. Keep up the great work! Can't wait to read your next book. Definitely a MUST HAVE in your collection.
The fight between the shifters is coming to a conclusion. But no one can guess all repercussions. Charlie is a human reporter who happens to have a past with James a shifter. Being a reporter may be a good thing for the New Alliance or it may just ruin everything between her and James.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book sees the wereanimals come out to the public - but it's also a sweet love story.
I read each book in order as suggested. I highly recommend it. Good writing with a plot followed throughout. Definitely an author to put on my 'to follow' list.
